CHARLES BABBAGE
Charles Babbage was born in London on December 26,
1791.Charles Babbage was an English mathematician and
inventor from London, England. Babbage went to The
University of Cambridge after he graduated Babbage
became a lecturer at the Royal Institution where he talked
about astronomy in the year 1815. In1822,Charles
Babbageconceptualized and began developing
theDifference Engine, considered to be the first automatic
computing machine. In 1822 Babbage invented the first
computer.

Babbage first invented theDifference Engine, then later
on he invented the Analytical Engineand then eventually
he invented a new version of theDifference Engine.
Some people would consider Babbage's machine as a
large calculator more than a computer. In1822,Charles
Babbageconceptualized and began developing

automatic computing machine. Babbage died on October
18, 1871.

The word "computer" was first recorded as being used inthe early
1600sand originally was used to describe a human who performed
calculations.
The first computer was considered a very big calculator.
The first computer appears to be at the Computer History Museum
ENIAC was the first electronic general-purpose computer.
Half of Babbages brain is preserved in the Hunterian Museum in the
Royal College of Surgeons, London.
Babbage was elected a Foreign Honorary Member of the American
Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1832.

Babbage was the co-founder of the Royal Astronomical Society (RAS) in
1820, that still now exists.
In 1824, Babbage won the Gold Medal of RAS.
Babbage was often known as The Father of Computing.
At age eight Babbage recovered from a life threatening fever.

1832: The first computer was evented by Charles Babbage
1953: Grace Hopper developed the first computer language,
which eventually became known as COBOL.
1999: The term wi-fi became part of the computing language
and users began connecting to the internet without wires.
2006: Apple introduces theMac book pro, itsfirst Intel-based,
dual-core mobile computer, as well as an Intel-based iMac.
2010: Apple unveils theiPad, changing the way consumers
view media and jumpstarting the dormant tablet computer
segment.
