Our Visit

Our Reflections
Upon hearing the word Chicago, many individuals visualize majestic
skyscrapers set upon the backdrops of Lake Michigan. Visiting Grant Park
allowed us to experience an authentic Chicago that so many imagine; we
perceived a controlled chaos among the masses of people within
downtown Chicago, a part of Chicago invisible from Loyolas Lakeshore
Campus. After visiting Grant Park, I am curious and excited to return and
eventually explore it in greater detail. -Justyna Kukulka
Grant Park is a great piece of green space squeezed between a fantastic
view of the Chicago skyline and an equally fantastic view of Lake
Michigan. The only thing that would have made our trip to Grant park
better would be if we hadn't gone in November and the fountain was off.
I'm excited to go when the weather is nicer so I can experience the
fountain as well as the events that the park hosts. -Henry Redman

Our Reflections
At first, I was skeptical about going into a part of the city I was unfamiliar
with. I know a lot of my friends who attended the summer festival
Lollapalooza and raved about the venue, so I was eager to see it for myself.
Grant Park did not disappoint. I felt like I was in the gardens of Versailles, and
the view of Lake Michigan was incredible. Even though it was dark and cold
when we went, we could still see all the interesting landmarks and
monuments around the park. Looking forward to going back when it is
warmer. -Emily Binienda
Grant park has been called Chicago's "front yard" and I think that reflects it
and what it does for the city very well. It introduces the magnitude and
variety the city has to offer with museums, parks, fountains, a harbor, among
other things. It was great being there and seeing how the city landscape rises
from its green spaces--I can't wait to return and watch it change as the seasons
progress. - Harrison Klee
