This day is the scheduled day of our dry run for the local demonstration teaching for tomorrow.
We, field study students arrive at Alupay Elementary School early in the morning. I am very much
excited and nervous at the same time for we are about to observed by our cooperating teacher and by
the coordinator of the subject that we are about to demonstrate. Before the dry run, I have assisted my
students to fall in line for the flag raising ceremony. I, together with my students clean our classroom.
After this, I then proceed to the observation proper and handled the class for the Filipino course. I
taught the topic of appropriate use of big letters and proper use of punctuation marks. Here, I have
observed that students can recognize those symbols but they encounter difficulties in using those. For
this to deal with, I did such effort like providing more activities or exercises whereby they are going to
answered it and explain why they arrive from that answer. This lesson will serve as a review for my
demonstration on the following day. After lunch, this is it- the time for demonstrating what I learned
from all of the observation that I have conducted. This afternoon, my critiques are my cooperating
teacher, Mrs. Teresita E. Dimaano and the Filipino coordinator of the said school, Mrs. Gemma Cepillo.
While I am having the demonstration proper, I am aware that they are very much observant on the very
detail I am doing and communicating. But I take that positively for I know that its for my betterment.
After the dry run, there had a post-conference whereby the critiques are going to communicate to me the
good points and more importantly, the things that I need to improve or deal with including the tone of
my voice, the gestures or mannerisms that I must avoid, the activities that I am going to improve in
order for my students to take that easily or difficulty. Aside from these, they also remind me to be
somewhat sweet in order to fully get the interests of my students. The standards in listening and group
activity are also given emphasis.
After the dry run, my cooperating teacher guide me in revising my already made lesson plan. The
revisions being made after the dry run are what I incorporate to it. After that, I sought the approval of
my critiques if the revised plan is already right. They helped us by allowing us not just to use their
resources but also to think and bear in mind that these will be beneficial for us. These happenings made
me realize that teachers there are very much concern and are willing to help on the needs of others.
They are very open to share their expertise and experiences for us to be competent enough to the near
future.
Today is the day. The day when I am very excited and very much nervous as well. I arrive at my
cooperating school as early as I can. We, FS students there are very much busy in cleaning the classroom
that will be using and in preparing for our actual demonstration teaching. Before the demo teaching some
revisions and additional was made that made me feel more nervous. My cooperating teacher told me to
include some sort of energizer in the form of a song. I then agree for I do believe that it will help. I am the
first demonstrator that is why no one can explain the feelings that I felt. The demonstration started at about
nine in the morning. During the demonstration, I just calmed myself and raised to God everything that will
be happening that day. But while I am on the run, I felt some kind of disappointment to myself when some
of my student did not answer the simple question I uttered in the part of review and flashed on my mind the
question: is this really what I want. But after this, I felt better for I overcome this task and I know that all
that Ive done is the result of my effort and eagerness to learn. After the demonstration teaching, we then
prepare some foods for lunch. We also recognize the participation of our students by giving some candies
and snacks. After lunch, there had a post-conference involving the participation of our critiques. My
cooperating teacher, our guidance counselor, the teacher in charge on behalf of our principal, our field study
coordinator and Ms. May Balmes are the critiques gave some comments after lunch. I felt overwhelmed on
the comments and greetings of the critiques and at the same time I felt thankful for their advice for I am
going to use those soon. All in all, I can say that I am very much blessed for having them and that I will
treasure their comments and suggestions.
