Contributing Blogger The Fifth Floor
December 2012-April 2015
The Fifth Floor was a collaborative blog that a group of University of Virginia sociology
graduate students launched in 2012. I was an active contributor to it throughout its run.
The blog was devoted to sociologically-influenced examinations of current events and
popular culture. It can be accessed at https://onthe5thfloor.wordpress.com.

Teaching Assistant University of Virginia Dept. of Sociology Charlottesville, VA

August 2009-May 2014
As a teaching assistant, I aided professors in the process of teaching sociology courses
at the University of Virginia. Conducting discussion sections represented my most
important responsibility in my capacity as a teaching assistant. These discussion
sections met for 50 minutes weekly throughout each semester. I discussed that weeks
material with students from the class and answered any questions they might have. In
addition to leading discussion sections, I also graded students essays, tests, and other
assignments. I have served as a teaching assistant for courses in Criminology (Fall
2009), Sociology of Gender (Spring and Fall 2010), Sociology of the Family (Spring
2011, Spring 2012, and Spring 2013), Introduction to Sociology (Fall 2011, Fall 2013,
Spring 2014), and the Sociology Research Workshop (Fall 2012).
