Directions (Q.36 to 43) : Read the following passages carefully and answer the questions given below it.
We know that our age is the age of specialization. Each one knows more about less and less. We
concentrate on some narrow field and forget about the larger context in which we could see the meaning
of our own specialization.
Modern specialization has led to the fragmentation of knowledge. We should not only be specialists but
also have a sense of the meaning of life and of social responsibility. We have to reckon with the spirit of
science, understand its limitations and develop an outlook which is consistent with its findings. It is no
use clinging to traditional forms which have lost their meaning. We cannot ignore the world of scientific
achievement and withdraw into the inner life of contemplation. We are involved in the mechanism of the
modern world and so should seek even religious truth not merely with out emotions but with our minds. It
will be interesting to know that we cannot ignore the scientific civilization. Nor can we drop religion. To
reconcile the two is the task set for our generation.

Directions (Q.40 to 43) : Read the following passages carefully and answer the questions given below it.
The world of today has achieved much, but for all its declared love for humanity it has based itself far more
on hatred and violence than on the virtues that make man human. War is the negation of truth and
humanity. Sometimes, war may be unavoidable but its progeny are terrible to contemplate. Not mere
killing, for man must die, but the deliberate and persistent propagation of hatred and falsehood, which
gradually become the normal habits of the people.
It is dangerous and harmful to be guided in our life's course by hatreds and aversions, for they are wasteful
of energy and limit and twist the mind, and prevent if from perceiving the truth.
