The paper receipts stuffed in our pockets and littering the streets are wasteful,
impractical, and outdated. Oftentimes, people dont even want their receipts and may
dispose of them carelessly, casually tossing them into the wind or into the garbage
rather than arecyclingbin.Ofcourse,thesereceiptsarenotasuselessasweoftentake
them to be: for those of us who doendupwantingproofofpurchase,suchasforresale
or returning merchandise, paper receipts are prone to misplaced or accidentally thrown
out. Our team proposes SmartChit as a solution to solve these environmental and
practical issues in the field of proofofpurchase. SmartChit not only provides safe,
convenient access to purchase history, but also offers an ecofriendly alternative to
receiptsandvouchersinmodernsociety.

3. ProposedSolution:SmartChitApp
a. SmartChit is an integrated SaaS platform and mobile app that allows users to
storeandtrackalltheirpurchasingtransactionsinoneplace.
b. Howitworks:
i.

Cashierscansallitemsforpurchase.

ii. Cashier asks customer if they want their receipt printed or sent via
SmartChit.
iii. Ifthe customerrequestsSmartChit,thenheorshecanthenopenourapp
that displays an accountspecific barcode. The cashier then scans this
barcodewithaSmartChitenabledscanner.
iv. The SmartChit system sends an itemized receipt ofpurchaseinformation
to the users account that heorshemayviewatanytime,eitheronlineor
ontheirSmartChitapp.

experiencewithtechanddesign.
