    Saints and Scholars have recommended the nyAsa with puruSha sUkta before reciting Sri
    Vishnu Sahasranama Stotra. This process, described in Agamas and Tantras, was given
    as Upadesha to an elderly friend of mine by H H Sri Sri Abhinava Vidya Tirtha Swamigal,
    Jagadguru Mahasannidhanam of Sri Dakshinamnaya Sringeri Sharada Peetham. The
    merit of reciting the Sahasranama is multiplied manifold times by following this process.

    Some Sampradayas prescribe Shapamochana which is recommended by Tantras. Those


    who have Gurupadesha can recite the shapamochana mantra. The mantra would be
    useless unless received through an initiation by Sadguru.
