They inhabited land, sea, and air and could be classified as either carnivorous or herbivorous based on their fossilized teeth. Dinosaurs came in many different shapes and sizes and belonged to various phylogenetic groups. It is generally accepted that dinosaurs went extinct around 65 million years ago when a large meteorite collided with Earth, wiping out most large life forms including dinosaurs.
