Battery Chart 1

This document contains tables and charts about calculating discharge rates for standard SLA batteries at C/20. Column A lists battery capacities in Amp Hours. Column B shows the discharge rate in Amps for each capacity at C/20. Columns C and D provide the load resistance needed for batteries at 12.6V and 12.25V respectively. Column E shows the Watts dissipated. Charts are included that plot discharge current over time with a fixed resistor load as the battery voltage decreases from 12.6V to 11V.

Note 1: As battery drops to 11.9 volts the current will drop by about 5%.
Note 2: Average voltage of battery is 12.25V, load resistance shown in Column D.
Note 3: Your load resistor should be rated at twice this wattage to not overheat.
Note 4: Actual discharge rate is about C/20.7 since current drops with voltage.
