    Favorite camisole (choose one that has a scooped neckline) 5/8 yard cotton jersey spandex knit, or other stretchy lightweight fabric 2 yards 3/8 narrow lingerie type elastic or stretch elastic lace Sewing thread to match fabric Tape measure Seam gauge Marking tool Sewing machine with zig-zag or multi step zig-zag stitch setting

    Lay fabric out, doubled right sides together, and place your favorite camisole on top of the fabric. Trace around all edges (except for the straps), using a marking tool. Use your seam gauge to add 5/8 to both side seams and to the bottom for the hem. Cut camisole front and back from fabric following your markings.

    1. Pin the narrow elastic to the neck edge of each the front and the back pieces of the camisole, matching the edge of the elastic with the raw edge of the neckline of the camisole. Stitch elastic to each neckline, using a multi-step zig-zag stitch (or regular zig-zag stitch if your machine does not have this), do not stretch the elastic as you sew. Sew through the elastic from the top side, and be sure to catch the camisole neckline in the stitching. Trim away excess elastic. 2. Measure the straps on your original camisole, from the front top edge to the back top edge. Note this measurement: ________. Place the front and back of the camisole pieces end to end, right sides facing up, upper edges towards each other. Pin the elastic to the front armhole edge, then measure the strap spacing (measurement above), leave this amount of elastic free to create the strap, continuing to pin the elastic onto the back armhole edge. Use the multi-step zig-zag to sew the elastic in place. Repeat for opposite side. 3. Place the camisole right sides together, matching the side seams. Pin, then stitch a 5/8 seam, using the same stitch setting as above. Trim away excess seam allowance close to the stitching, if desired, to reduce the bulk of the seam. 4. Turn up 1/2 on lower edge of camisole for the hem, using your seam gauge to help. Pin in place, then stitch the hem with the same stitch as above, catching in the raw edge of the hem.
