Organisation of the Workshop Room
Think about how you would like to organise the room for your presentation. You may like to discuss this with the Roll Call teacher prior to beginning the workshop. Some options: - Normal classroom arrangement, semi-circle of tables and chairs, circle of tables and chairs, groups of tables and chairs If you do rearrange the room, remember to arrange the room back to how it was before you leave. Make sure the computer, data projector and speakers are switched on and ready to go at the before you start the workshop.

Today we are going to explore an issue that relates to being a good digital citizen which means participating safely with digital technology including things like computers, mobile phones and the internet. Being a good digital citizen is important whether you are at home, work or school. We are focusing on Being Phone Smart Speak slowly and clearly

Explanation:
Mobile phones are great for keeping in touch with friends and family. But there are some things you should keep in mind. For example, if you download free ring tones or other offers that are sent to you by SMS, you may find yourself with a very high phone bill. Cyberbullying, people making inappropriate contact, or coming across websites and other materials that you didnt want to see can be problems as well. Your privacy is also important. Activity 1: Online Video

We are going to watch a video which explores some of the issues when mobile phone communication gets out of hand Lets look at the video Terrible TEXt Why was Keyans ex-girlfriend sending mean text messages? How did receiving the mean text message make her feel? What did Keyan suggest she do about the text messages
Have this website ready to go. Also check the sound at the beginning of the lesson

It is important to remember that you should never respond to this type of text message or bullying like this. Instead, you should ignore the messages, save them and tell a trusted adult if they do not stop. 9.13 9.19am
Activity 2: Ignore, Save, Tell

Pass out the response sheet to students which states IGNORE, SAVE & TELL Read out the FIVE "terrible texts' one by one. Ask students to decide how they would react by folding their sheet to show their response. You may want to use the following questions to discuss student responses: - Have you ever received a mean or hurtful text, 1M, or e-mail before? - What did you do about it? - Why would you choose to do that? They may use more than one card at a time. For example, they may want to "ignore' and "save' message #1, or "ignore,""save," and "tell" message #5. Discuss the students' choices. Ask student to identify which trusted adult they would "tell" about the messages and why. Speak slowly and clearly
