BusBar Short Circuit Calculation

This document provides calculations to support a fault level rating of 65kA for 1 second for a 4000A TP aluminium bus duct. The calculations show: 1) The bus bars have a thermal rating of 4240A, which is above the required 4000A rating. 2) The short time rating cross sectional area requirement of 845mm^2 is less than the actual area of 7200mm^2. 3) The mechanical stress force of 1984.88kg/m is safely supported by supports providing 2000kg capacity and spaced at 350mm or less. 4) The final design offered has a chamber size of 700mm minimum, bus bars of 3 x 200

Since there are two supports one at on top and one at bottom, force per support will be 342.10 Kg. a) Powermat supports (SMC) type 312-K having capacity to withstand force of 2000 kg will be provided meaning thereby that there will be a safety factor of 5.85 times. Distance : The support to support distance of max 350 mm will be maintained. Above calculations / recommendations are OK for a phase to phase gap of 130 mm.
