DANNY TARKANIAN

Danny Tarkanian has become a perennial failed candidate: he has run for office three times in the past eight years and lost every time. This isnt surprising, as Tarkanians numerous ethical issues make him unelectable. Among other things, Tarkanian is currently under a $17 million judgment, handed down by a federal judge for Tarkanians role in a bad property deal. Tarkanian has also had multiple inaccuracies on his FEC reports, was repeatedly delinquent in paying property taxes and was sanctioned by the Nevada Supreme Court for signing a legal document even though he wasnt an active member of the Bar. During the 2010 Senate race, Tarkanian staked out far-right views on immigration reform and campaigned with Minuteman Project founder Jim Gilchrist. Radio and television host Glenn Beck called Tarkanian a Tea Party radical, a designation that Tarkanian bragged about on the campaign trail.

2007: Real Estate Investor Robert Dyson Approached Tarkanian To Guarantee A Loan From La Jolla Bank For $14.5 Million, Which Would Then Be Loaned To Dyson At A Higher

Interest Rate. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Court documents state Dyson approached Tarkanian in early 2007 through a mutual associate, Doug Johnson of Johnson Investments, and another plaintiff in the case. Dyson wanted a loan from Vegas Diamond and offered as collateral a development in progress near Anza in Riverside County, Calif. He arranged for Tarkanian to get a loan from La Jolla Bank for $14.5 million which would then be loaned to Dyson at a higher rate of interest after about $2 million was used to pay another note on the Vegas Diamond property, Tarkanian said. [Las Vegas Review-Journal, 1/23/10] After Dyson Defaulted On The Loan, La Jolla Bank Sought To Foreclose On Tarkanians Vegas Diamond Property. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, After Dyson couldn't make good on his obligations, La Jolla sought to foreclose on the Vegas Diamond Property, about 9 acres near the M Resort, Tarkanian said. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, U.S. Senate candidate Danny Tarkanian is embroiled in a lawsuit to block foreclosure on family-owned property he once viewed as a retirement investment. Tarkanian, a Republican seeking to challenge Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., is among plaintiffs who filed suit Jan. 8 in Clark County District Court against La Jolla Bank and Action Foreclosure Services of California. The judgment was signed May 21 by U.S. District Judge William Hayes in a San Diego court. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, During that decade of go-go real estate speculation, Tarkanian and the companies he was associated with didn't always pay property taxes on time, becoming delinquent for one to five years and forcing Clark County authorities to hold at least a dozen parcels until the bills were paid. Tarkanian Paid $7,377.20 In Late Taxes And Penalties For One Parcel That Was Two Years Delinquent. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, A year later in September 2001, Tarkanian paid another $7,377.20 in back bills for one parcel that was two years delinquent, including for taxes, interest, penalties and fees. Tarkanian Was Sanctioned And Fined By The Nevada Supreme Court For Signing Papers While His Law License Was Inactive. According to the Associated Press, Tarkanian also was sanctioned and fined in August by the Nevada Supreme Court for signing legal papers while his law license was inactive, according to documents obtained by the Reno Gazette-Journal. He described the incident as just a mistake I made. Tarkanian, 44, has a degree in business and finance from UNLV and graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law. Besides his business activity, he's involved in the Sound Foundation, Nevada PEP and Public Education Foundation. The Nevada State Democratic Party Filed A Complaint With The FEC Alleging Tarkanian Failed To Disclose Debt Left From His 2010 Run. According to the Associated Press, The Nevada State Democratic Party has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission alleging first quarter campaign reporting irregularities by Republican congressional candidate Danny Tarkanian. The complaint filed Wednesday alleges Tarkanian failed to disclose debt left over from his failed U.S. Senate campaign in 2010. It also questions contributions from some limited liability corporations that did not include partnership attributions on the quarterly report, as well as other possible corporate donations that the complaint alleges are improper. [Associated Press, 5/2/12] Tarkanian Said He Would File An Amended FEC Report. According to the Las Vegas Review Journal, Democrats said Tarkanian also had not reported at least $66,000 in personal loans he had made to his campaign in 2010 when he ran for the U.S. Senate, losing the GOP primary to Sharron Angle. The Complaint Said Tarkanian Took A $500 Illegal Contribution From A Corporation. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Nevada Democrats filed a campaign finance complaint Wednesday charging Republican U.S. House candidate Danny Tarkanian received a $500 illegal

contribution and maybe more. Tarkanian's campaign should not have taken the donation from Haig's Quality Printing of Las Vegas because corporate contributions are against the law, the Democrats said in the complaint sent to the Federal Election Commission. [Las Vegas Review-Journal, 5/3/12] Tarkanian Said He Returned The Contribution After The Complaint Was Filed. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, As a U.S. House candidate, Tarkanian now is trying to avoid any penalty from the Federal Election Commission. The Nevada Democratic Party earlier this month filed a complaint alleging he had accepted some illegal contributions, including $500 from a corporation. Tarkanian's campaign said Friday it returned the contribution from Haig's Quality Printing after reviewing his FEC filing with an attorney and accountant familiar with federal rules. The Complaint Said Tarkanian May Have Taken Contributions From Three Other Entities That May Be Corporations And Failed To Properly Disclose 14 Contributions From Partnerships. Also, the Republican's campaign appears not to have properly disclosed 14 contributions from partnerships and may have accepted an excessive contribution from one of them, according to the complaint. The Complaint Alleged That Tarkanian Failed To Report About $250,000 In Campaign Spending. According to Associated Press, Democrats say Tarkanian accepted a $2,500 contribution from a donor who had already hit the legal campaign donation limit. They also say Tarkanian didnt report about $250,000 in campaign spending during the proper reporting period, and that he didnt refund certain illegal campaign donations within the laws 30-day limit. He said border enforcement must be strengthened, the legal immigration process must be streamlined and illegal immigrants should be denied any taxpayer-funded services, including education and health care. Although he said hospitals should treat life-threatening emergencies, other care should be denied, he said. The problem is theyve expanded that to everything, including a cold, and its overburdening our system, Tarkanian said. If its an emergency, it should be treated; if its not an emergency, it shouldnt. Sue Lowden, of supporting benefits for illegal immigrants because of a letter to the editor she wrote criticizing his position. Current federal law requires education and emergency health care be provided to all residents. In order to end all government benefits for illegal immigrants and start directing federal law enforcement officers to begin pulling kids out of schools and loading them into vans to get them out of the country, as proposed by Danny Tarkanian, three things must occur, she wrote, saying a new law would have to be passed, signed by the Democratic president and then withstand a certain" court appeal.
