Responsibilities include: conducting a needs assessment to identify the social, emotional, behavioural and academic requirements of the child and family; development of treatment goals and case management strategies that reflect the family as the unit of care while providing for the specific and individual needs of the child(ren) and family members identified as requiring assistance; provision of short-term counselling support for families dealing with a number of issues including; parent/child conflict, behavioural difficulties, parenting skills development, family relationship difficulties, violence and abuse, substance abuse, as well other stressors on the family. Provide counselling services to families referred to the Calgary and Area Child and Family Services Authority. Responsibilities include: providing the family with counselling, providing an ecological assessment of the familys strengths and needs, as well as creating a Family Development Plan to improve areas of need and build on strengths; making appropriate referrals to other community supportive services; and work in collaboration with Childrens Services, school boards, as well as other stakeholders.
Responsible for the delivery of family and youth support services to the families involved with the program. Responsibilities included: ability to conduct a needs assessment to identify the social, emotional, behavioural and academic needs of the child; development of treatment goals and case management strategies to address the childs and their familys needs; liaise between the family, school, community and other professional groups; and provide assistance to the child and family to address issues that could be influencing the childs social, emotional, behavioural, and/or academic progress including individual and/or family counselling. Primary worker with the youth in the program. Responsible for a variety of Case Management duties. Other responsibilities included: implementation and maintenance of a structured setting that fostered the development of personal and social functioning; worked closely with other members of the clinical staff in providing a therapeutic milieu; and worked with the adolescent to help stabilize their behaviour and mediated counselling between the adolescent and their family.
June 2006 August 2006 Summit Camp Camp Counsellor Counsellor at a youth summer camp for children/youth with a variety of mental and behavioural disabilities. Provided 24/7 support and guidance to the children/youth at the camp.
