Information Sheet
The following information is provided to assist domestic students who have completed or are undertaking the General Certificate of Education (GCE) and intend to seek admission to undergraduate study at The University of Queensland (UQ).
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
For entry to all undergraduate programs at The University of Queensland (UQ) applicants must meet two basic entry requirements: 1. Eligibility (i.e. satisfy the subject prerequisites and other requirements) 2. Merit (i.e. possess an entry rank high enough for a place in the program)
Entry ranks range from 1 to 99 (maximum). As admission is competitive the entry rank cut-offs for programs can fluctuate from year to year.
For detailed program information, including prerequisite requirements and entry rank cut-offs from previous admission periods, please refer to the Universitys Undergraduate Prospectus for Australian Students or website: www.uq.edu.au/study.
Minimum grades required to pass prerequisites: GCE AS Level and GCSE/O Level subjects: Grade of C or better. GCE A Level subjects: Grade of D or better Please note that the table above is not exhaustive and a combination of subjects may be accepted. Please contact UQ Admissions for further advice.
Entry Rank
Other overseas secondary qualifications may be deemed comparable to GCE A levels (e.g. Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination). Contact UQ Admissions for further information
b c
Results in the subject General Studies and in the candidate's native language are not counted in the aggregate.
Advanced Level: ranks are calculated on the basis that A*=6, A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1 and must include results in not more than three subjects at Advanced Level or the equivalent comprising a combination of Advanced, Advanced in Applied subjects, Advanced Subsidiary, and Advanced Subsidiary in Applied subjects. Where results in the same subject are awarded at both Advanced and Advanced Subsidiary level, only one result in the subject will be counted in the aggregate, and this shall be the result that contributes the highest point value to the aggregate.
d
Advanced Subsidiary level results may be included in the aggregate and contribute the equivalent of half of a subject taken at Advanced Level A=2.5, B=2, C=1.5, D=1, E=0.5.
e
A Level in Applied subjects/AS Level in Applied subjects: ranks are calculated on the following basis: - A Level in Applied subjects (Double Award) [12 units]: the sum of the two letter grades where: A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1. - A Level in Applied subjects [6 units]: A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1. - AS Level in Applied subjects (Double Award) [6 units]: the sum of the two letter grades where: A=2.5, B=2, C=1.5,D=1, E=0.5. - Advanced Subsidiary/AS Level in Applied subjects [3 units]: A=2.5, B=2,C=1.5, D=1, E=0.5.
