Sensors measure vehicle speed, body yaw and feed the data into a microprocessor which exercises braking control over individual wheels to prevent the vehicle from skidding out of control while braking.
VSM helps the vehicle maintain directional stability when suddenly braking or rapidly accelerating under asymmetric (wet/dry) road surface conditions where traction among the four tyres can suddenly become uneven.

Operational Premise
Vehicles with ESP System recognises unusual manoeuvres such as sudden braking or sharp turns, initiating split-second braking control over individual wheels and automatically reducing engine speed when needed thus avoiding spinouts and crashes. Vehicles without ESP If driver initiates a sudden turning manoeuvre, or panic braking, then the vehicle risks spinning out of control and possibly crashing. VSM takes safety to the next level by combining the intelligence of ESP with Motor Driven Power Steering (MDPS) to avoid loss of control which can result when suddenly braking or rapidly accelerating under asymmetric (wet/dry) road surface conditions. The system operates completely automatically without requiring any input whatsoever from the driver.
