(1) Code words as shown denote ACSR with Class A galvanized core (CSA S1 type steel). (2) Rated strengths shown are applicable to CSA S1 type steel cores. Strength values based on CSA C49.2 calculation method. (3) Conductor Class relates to tensile strength of steel in comparison to identical conductor size - as per CSA C49.2, (4) Based on conductivity of 61.2% (average lot) IACS @20C for aluminum and 8% IACS @20C for steel core. AC resistance for single layer conductors includes the effects of core magnetization. To convert to /km multiply value x 3.281. (5) Based on conductor operating temperature of 75C, with an ambient of 32C, 0.6 m/sec (2 ft/sec) crosswind, .6 coefficient of emissivity, full sun (as per CSA C22.3 Part 1).
Applications:
Compact Aluminum Conductors, Steel Reinforced (ACSR) are used for overhead distribution and transmission lines. The Type 100 Compact ASCR conductor style is also used as the support conductor in the CSA Neutral Supported Service Entrance Cable as referenced in the CSA C22.2 #129 specification.
