Research Method
Research method is very crucial in a research. It is used to make research accomplishes the study easily. It can be defined as a procedure or a way of doing a research. In this chapter, the writer presents the points of research method, namely: type of research, subject of the study, object of the study, the data and source of the data, the technique for analyzing data and method of collecting data. A. Type of Research In doing the research, the writer uses ethnographic research. Ethnography literally means writing about people. In a broad sense, ethnography encompasses any study of a group of people for the purpose of describing their social-cultural activities and patterns. Ethnography essentially involves descriptive data collection as the basic for interpretation. It represents a dynamic picture of the way of life of some interacting social group (Burn, 1990:393). In other words, ethnography is the study of peoples behavior and naturally occurring on going setting, with a focus on the cultural interpretation of behavior. In this study, peoples behavior refers to the activity of teaching learning English done by the teacher and the students in the classroom.

B. Subject of the Study The subject of the study is the teachers and the students of the SLTP Negeri 1 Nguter Sukoharjo, especially the first year students. In fact, there is one class in her object of her study it is first students. It consists of six classes: 1A into 1f. Each class consists of 40 students, so the whole numbers of them are 244 students. The English teacher is female who has experience in teaching English. C. Object of the study The object of the study is The teaching learning process of English. The writer wants to describe the English Teaching Learning Process at SLTP N 1 Nguter Sukoharjo, especially to the first students who have studies English. The object is teaching Reading using Communicative Language Teaching. D. Data and Source of Data The form of data is information deriving from the observation of English teaching- learning process such as: participants, student teacher interactions, the process of teaching and learning, the materials, the text used, the notes taken by the students and teacher plans. Configuration of the rooms and organization of desk and the furniture ( Brause and Mayker, 1991: 131132). The forms of the data are a word deriving from the observational and interview notes accumulated in the field, documents and records. The source of data is taken from the teaching of English at SLTP N 1 Nguter Sukoharjo. There are three sources of data:

1. Event , the teaching and learning English in natural setting. All activities in the classroom of SLTP N 1 Nguter Sukoharjo were recorded and no manipulation. 2. Informant, the teacher of English and students of SLTP N 1 Nguter Sukoharjo. 3. Document, writing materials or others, which add and enrich the data and teaching English at SLTP N 1 Nguter Sukoharjo. The writer has gathered a variety of written materials or documents: program, planning documents, reports, curriculum, materials attendant record, samples of students writing and things is SLTP N 1 Nguter Sukoharjo. E. Method of Collecting Data The method used for collecting data is observation and interview. 1. Observation To know the teaching learning process, the writer observes the implementation of teaching English conducted by the teacher in classroom. In this section the writer tries to get information about the teacher understanding of teaching based on CLT in teaching English. 2. Interview Other technique is interview with the English teacher who teaches the students in the SLTP N I Nguter Sukoharjo. Interview was initiated by asking some questions about the activity of teaching and learning.

F. Technique for Analyzing Data The data in this research will be analyzed by using descriptive qualitative method. The writer uses descriptive qualitative method to explain the teaching of English using CLT applied by English teacher. To explain the data more clearly, the writer shows a result of collecting data.
