LADIES AUX PRESIDENTS CORNER
by Karen Haugen
Spring is here, and so is all the water. I hope you are all high and dry. In April we had election of officers for the new year. Congratulations to all the newly elected officers.

COMMANDERS CORNER
by Jason Hicks Greeting Comrades, As I write this we are still planning for a spring flood, I hope all of you are properly protected. As many of you know we held Post elections last month, results are as follows: Commander: Jason Hicks, Sr. Vice: Joe Butler, Jr. Vice: Raymond Pizzaro, Judge Advocate: Mike Obach and Quartermaster: John Lopez. We hope to have another successful year with this team in place. I plan for this year to be my last year as Commander as well; we currently have a new group of members who are becoming active. Expect some changes to come at the Post home and the club as well. We are constantly striving to improve the service we provide to our members and new customers. With the addition of the supper club our business has picked up considerably. There were many naysayers that said it wouldn't work. Well the numbers are in and we are in the black with business constantly picking up. We will now be concentrating on more ways to improve. I'm always open to suggestions as how we can improve. Remember to try our new supper club open Tues-Fri. It is a nice combo of Italian and American food. Also plan to th come down on May 4 to support the Cowboy up event sponsored by the Men's Auxiliary. It is a first class evening of entertainment and proceeds go to great cause. In closing please remember to take the time to remember the sacrifices made by our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines. We are still at war and our young men are still dying. Yours in Comradeship Jason

President, Karen Haugen Sr. Vice, Joann Lien Jr. Vice, Arlene Hagen Treasurer, Cindy Erickson Chaplain, Alvina Hagar Conductress, Bonnie Christopherson Guard, Inez Cossette I am excited for the New Year, I am confident we will have another wonderful year. Please consider joining us at a meeting, the 1st Monday of the month at 6PM. Come out and volunteer for bingo at the VA hospital, or sit at a table and hand out poppies, carry a flag on Memorial Day, come to Eventide with us for Veterans Day, or march in a parade this summer, we have fun and support our local veterans. That's what we are all about! May 4th is Buddy Poppy Day, we will have members sitting at CashWise, Walmart, Kmart and at the club. Stop by and get your poppy, make a donation to help a disabled veteran. Memorial Day our service will once again be at the Moorhead Amory at 11:00. See newsletter for itenary. Join us in St Cloud for our Department convention, June 13th 16th, 2013.

Keep our Veterans and their families in your prayers.

QUARTERMASTERS CORNER

Comrades, In the VFW our membership year runs from July 1-June 30 . Therefore this will be the last newsletter for the 2013 membership year. If you are a continuous member (you pay every year) you will receive your letter from VFW Headquarters sometime in August reminding you to pay for the new membership year. There will be a proposal brought up at the National Convention in July to raise the continuous membership rate by $10.00 for every VFW Post. If this passes the plan is to implement this raise on Jan 1 2014. If this does pass I will send a notice out to all continuous members outlining how this will affect them. For membership we currently have 584 life members, 3 new members, 7 reinstates and 43 continuous members for a total of 637 members. We ended last year with a total of 661 members In comradeship,

Well it happened for the first time in 120 years. Old Man Winter won the fight with Mother Nature on when to end winter. Thankfully Mother Nature has pulled through and it looks like spring is about to begin. With the spring brings the flood and I hope the best for everyone this year as the flood looks like to another major one. The Men's Auxiliary has been meeting weekly to gear up for our 7th Annual Cowboy Up Kick-Off. This year we are hoping for another banner year. With adding the Motorcycle Run and serving lunch, it's going to be a long day but more than worth it. We have another late addition to our events line up for the day and that is our shave a head a-thon. My mother as well as 4 others have pledged to shave their heads if we are able to raise $1000.
