Materials: Bulky weight yarn (12 ply) or 2 strands of DK weight yarn (8 ply) held together in colors of choice up to 150 grams DK weight yarn (8 ply) for trim Crochet hook size H (5.0 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge for main slipper; smaller hook of choice for trim Pattern Notes: Sample slippers used 2 strands of DK weight yarn (8 ply) held together throughout, but bulky weight yarn (12 ply) could easily be used instead. Gauge = 7 hdc & 5 rows = 2

Slippers: Rnd 1: Beginning at toe with color of choice, ch 4, sl st in 4th ch from hook to form a ring. Ch 2, 9 hdc in ring. Join with sl st to top of beg ch-2. (10 hdc) Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2 hdc in next st, (hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st) around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch-2. (15 hdc) Rnd 3: Ch 2, hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st, (hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st) around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch-2. (20 hdc) Rnd 4: Ch 2, hdc in next 3 sts, (hdc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc in next st) around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch-2. (24 hdc) Rnd 5: Ch 2, hdc in each st around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch-2. (24 hdc) Rnd 6: Ch 2, 2 hdc in same sp as beg ch-2, skip 2 hdc, (3 hdc in next hdc, skip 2 hdc) around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch-2. (8 3-hdc shells) Rnd 7: Sl st in next 2 hdc and in next ch-1 sp, ch 2, 2 hdc in same sp, (3 hdc in next ch-1 sp) around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch-2. (8 3-hdc shells) Rnds 8-14: Repeat rnd 7. Rnd 15: Work as per rnd 7, leaving last 2 ch-1 sps unworked. Ch 2, turn. (6 3-hdc shells) Continue to work in rows: Row 1: Ch 2, hdc in next 17 hdc. Ch 2, turn. (18 hdc) Remaining rows: Repeat row 1 until slipper reaches desired length. Measure entire slipper from top of toe to end of heel. Refer to size chart provided, or use your own foot to measure. Do not fasten off.

Heel: Fold last row of slipper in half so seam will appear on inside (WS) of heel and sew together with sl st to form heel. Ch 1, turn and sl st back along seam just made to top of ankle. Edging: (Ensure you have an even # of sts on this rnd.) Ch 1, working in ends of hdc rows along 1st side of slipper, sc evenly across. (Tip: Work (sc in end of next row, 2 sc in end of next row.) Work 3 hdc in each of the 2 remaining ch-1 sps at the top of the toe. Sc along the 2nd side of the slipper, same as the 1st. Join with sl st to 1st sc. Fasten off. Optional Trim: Using DK or light worsted weight yarn in contrasting color of choice and smaller hook - size F (3.75) mm or similar - join with sl st in sc of edging rnd (near back of heel). (Sc, hdc, sc) in next st, [sl st in next st, (sc, hdc, sc) in next st] around. Join with sl st at end of rnd and fasten off.
