The design We have applied the self-compression arc-quenching principle. This principle makes the best possible use of the energy of the arc to quench it, thus reducing the power required by the operating mechanism. Because of the low energy requirement, during development we were able to fall back in one of our operating mechanism forms which has proved itself over a long time: the spring-stored energy mechanism. The new 3AP1 FG circuit-breaker will be delivered completely mounted on a breaker base and prefilled with arc quenching gas SF6.
