On-Product Labels
LABEL GUIDE
While consumers are becoming increasingly concerned about the environmental attributes of products, many marketers are struggling with the abundance of on-product labels available for use and how to properly promote the sustainability of their paper selections. At Sappi, our belief is that the foundation of environmental claims and labeling rests on two pillars: they must be true and they must be substantiated. Labels developed by credible third party certification programs, such as those listed in this guide, offer assurance and transparency to marketers who choose to use them. Sappis fine paper mills are chain of custody certified in accordance to FSC, SFI and PEFC forest management programs. Many Sappi products are also Green-e certified. Your printer is the last link in the chain and therefore must also be certified in order for you to use the FSC, SFI, PEFC or Green-e labels. Your printer will coordinate the submission of your print project for approval to use the labels and will provide the high-resolution artwork to be used on the print project. These certification programs offer many label format options, users should consult the program rules for all formats that are available.
