Slot diffusers and linear ball diffusers
Slot diffusers and linear ball diffusers guarantee effective air discharge that
can also be individually modified after installation. With their narrow faces
they can easily be architecturally integrated into ceilings, even in rooms
with low ceilings. Our continuous linear construction and mitred angle
sections also enable ambitious visual effects to be achieved. The finishes are
available in various RAL colours or in anodised aluminium.

Combination diffusers
Combination diffusers
……
Modern office buildings, which may for example have low energy
requirements thanks to use of concrete core cooling, require small air
exchange rates on the one hand, whilst providing very little room for
installing the ventilation on the other. In such situations, installing
combination diffusers into walls as a mixed or displacement flow system
is a compact and cost-efficient complete solution.

Grilles
……
Grilles
Grilles, the classic amongst the air terminal devices, can be used for supply
and extract air. When used properly, they continue to enable low-cost and
effective ventilation of rooms. Depending on the construction, they have
the flexibility to be adjusted to suit specialised requirements and room
partitioning. Linear grilles are a good design-oriented solution. They are
made of anodised aluminium or steel and available in various RAL colours.
Types DGVAR•DGSELF

When the air is too dry, it can make you ill. In winter,
heating frequently makes the air far too dry. This often
results in sore throats, sinus infections and susceptibility
to colds. About one-third of all sick days are taken due to
illnesses affecting the respiratory passages. Good indoor
air quality, ensuring optimum good health, not only
keeps employees fit but pays off for employers, too.

Individual system design
In this area, TROX/FSL has been able to prove its capabilities, especially
during the refurbishment of an office complex in Frankfurt. For the
refurbishment of the air conditioning system of Feldbergstraße 35,
a building in which the German representative of the British National
Westminster Bank AG has its headquarters, TROX developed a special
ventilation solution between the sill and the ceiling together with the
building owners and architect.

If the user is not present, the units switch to standby mode or they are

simply so that the energy costs can be settled based on consumption.
This motivates the users to use energy more sparingly since they can

This type of controller eliminates conventional balancing dampers and thus the
time-consuming and expensive work of balancing and adjusting the flow rates in
the building. With Types RN and EN controllers, the desired flow rate can be sim-

air terminal units were designed for constant flow rates but are also available
with motorised flow rate adjustment.
The casing and the damper blade are made of galvanised sheet steel. In the case
of the Type VFC, the damper blade is made of plastic. The controllers are gene-
rally maintenance free. The plastic Type VFL volume flow limiter is easy to insert

Optimum cooling for computer centres
TROX AITCS (Advanced IT Cooling Systems) develops high-density
cooling solutions based on CO2 for the IT sector, thus playing an
important role in the high availability of computer centres and the air
conditioning of heavily thermally loaded IT workstations.
Both the CO2OLracTM system solution for server racks in computer centres
and the CO2OLdeskTM IT workstation air conditioning solution achieve
energy savings of 30 - 50% in comparison with conventional systems.
The system installed in the computer centre of the ABN AMRO Bank consists of two water-cooled
cold water sets with R134A Turbocor compressors and a system water temperature of 6°/12°C.
The entire project was carried out according to TIER classification N+1. The installation of the
secondary CO2 distribution system was implemented in stainless steel pipes. All 15 CO2OLrac™
rack coolers have temperature sensors, controllable fans, and a cooling capacity of 20 kW each.
The total cooling capacity thus amounted to 300 kW. The rack coolers were provided as a
customised solution for the bank’s 600 mm x 42 HE high racks.

Intensive cooling for blade servers
The CO2OLracTM cooling system works with CO2 as the heat transfer
medium. By means of a perforated front panel door, inside air is
conducted through the blade servers through several fans on the back
side of the rack.
In the process, the air takes up the heat of the blade servers and cools
them. The heated air is then cooled down to room temperature again
in the heat exchangers, which are operated using CO2. The heavily
thermally loaded rack thus does not have to be in the same room as the
existing air conditioning system and does not require a cooling/heating
path constellation.
Thanks to the high cooling capacity of 30 kW and more per rack, the
highest possible packing density of blade servers in the server racks can
be achieved. With respect to the use of conventional air conditioning,
using the high-performance energy transfer medium saves more than
50% space in the technical infrastructure area of a data centre, as the
number of server racks is reduced and a clearly higher room capacity is
achieved. Along with this enormous cooling capacity, energy savings of
more than 50% can be generated in comparison with conventional
systems based on cold water and other cooling agents. CO2OLracTM can
be used for all commercial server racks and is ideally suited for both
new and existing computer centres.

Intensive cooling for dealer desks
With the development of CO2OLdeskTM, TROX AITCS offers intensive
cooling for dealer desks. This high-performance desk air conditioning
system was developed to fulfil the requirements of investment banks
for the equipment of high-performance workstations.
Function:
The heat loads arising in the dealer desks due to computers and
other heat sources are directly dissipated via the CO2OLdeskTM system.
The cooling creates a microclimate that is confined to the individual
workstation. The concept guarantees an optimum adaptation of
CO2OLdesk™ to the computer heat load to be removed.
The self-regulating system lets users set up their computer tower on
either side of the workstation.

plant options:
CO2OLpacTM
When an existing building has sufficient chilled water to cool the
high density server load, a CO2OLpac™ solution is specified. The CO2OLpacTM
server heat within the vapourised CO2 is rejected via the CO2OLpac™
heat exchanger into the existing chilled water system. CO2OLpac™
units are available from 100 kW to 600 kW.
CO2OLairpacTM
Where the building’s cooling infrastructure is to be enhanced
to satisfy an increased heat load, either the CO2OLairpac™ or
CO2OLwaterpac™ are specified. Both chillers provide a
packaged plant solution to compliment a dedicated high
density server cooling system. For the CO2OLairpac™, aircooled
R134a chiller with integral CO2OLpac™, modules are
available from 300kW to 750kW capacities.
CO2OLairpacTM
CO2OLwaterpacTM
The CO2OLwaterpac™ solution is a water-cooled R134a chiller with inte-
grated CO2OLpac™ module designed to suit cooling tower systems. This
compact unit is available in modules from 300 kW to 900 kW.

Insufficient cooling in computer centres often leads to
server failures. For this reason, the cooling of these
devices is vital and accordingly consumes many resources.
In 2006, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has
calculated that the servers and memory systems and
equipment used to cool these systems in computer centres
on American soil in the United States cost 61 billion
kilowatt hours of electricity. This is twice as much as in
2000 and makes up 1.5% of the national power
consumption.
