This is the second entry from Greenhill the first was called The Love Songs. This company has a site on the Internet and sells many other artists in this series as well. Nothing too outstanding here, Bridge Over Troubled Water shows up without the applause track, everything else is standard fare. This is the year for Gospel CDs on Elvis, two more Gospel CDs will be issued shortly after this one and BMG has plans to issue still another Gospel CD this two. We go from Hound Dog being released on every issue to every new CD being Gospel music. BMG get out of the music business and sell RCA to a company that cares.

This was available for a short time through the Avon catalog. Nothing too special here except it has a cover very similar to one of the Elvis Collection CDs issued by Time Life a few years ago. These special products issues are sometimes hard to find and can be worth some money in years to come, but as I grow older I tire of hunting them all down. It does have a picture label and the back cover differs from the earlier Time Life release.

Heartland Music, a Time Life company, issued this double CD set and offered it through their mail order catalog Nothing very special here. Money Honey is an alternate take here and it was not advertised so it snuck up on collectors. This CD was offered through mail order magazines only. Collectors Choice primarily. The take on Money Honey is an early one from the 1956 sessions and considerably different than the issued version, much shorter and very rough. The CD is worth its price for this song alone.

This is really a good set. BMG is still following in the footsteps of the bootleggers but what can one expect from this company now. Many of the cuts here have been issued on bootlegs in the past, but most are new. The packaging is OK and the content is easy to listen to. Weve heard most of it before, but there are some first time RCA Live recordings here. Youre The Reason Im Living, Green, Green Grass Of Home, Big Boss Man and There Goes My Everything all have been issued on various bootlegs but see the light of day on RCA for the first time. It is difficult to keep a fresh product for a recording Artist dead since 1977. So expect a lot of Live shows from now on. If you were able to get all of the Cassette tapes and CD bootlegs available over the years you might have over 600 Live shows by now. About 60 of those shows are excellent quality. RCA may have 250 soundboard recordings of live shows, so I hope all of the fans really like Elvis singing in concert. A very rough estimate of how many live shows are available on tape or CD might be around 800. That would mean there are as many live versions of Hound Dog recorded as there are albums that BMG has issued it on in the US.

The independent special product issues have increased and the main stream commercial issues by BMG are cutting back now. Anyone can issue an Elvis CD if he is prepared to pay for at least 2500 CDs. They are popping up everywhere and in some cases you can only find the CDs in very small parts of the country. This late release was a Canadian project. A Special Product issued by Madacy out of Quebec Canada. The reason why it is included here is because it was printed and made in the U.S. It was available through CD Now on the Internet. It was the last issue from a very busy year. In 2001 Elvis Recordings abound. Fan Clubs, Internet Chat Clubs, and international Collectors are everywhere. The CD Single America The Beautiful sold well in Retail stores here in the U.S. And the Follow That Dream label seems to have carved out enough sales to continue into 2002. BMG had a healthy release schedule and the Collectables label issued several major box sets. This has been a good year for Elvis music and the Elvis collector.

The Wonder Of You is an Alternate live take from what date is yet unknown. On the Original Elvis starts the song out with Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh on this version he does not. It is incorrectly dated on the CD,, I have a feeling that it was intentionally done as there were rumors about alternate takes being issued on the first copies of this CD before it was released. The sound quality on this CD is supposed to be vastly superior too and it is on some of the Stereo songs but it is hardly worth $20.00 for this CD. BMG is trying to appeal to a new audience, younger and not familiar with Elvis music and this is the reason given for issuing the same old songs for the gazillianth time. If it sells Elvis CDs I guess that excuse is as good as any. Here in the U.S. It is very difficult to determine with the new chart system just who is number One this CD sold enough CDs to make it Number One on the Sales chart but did not receive enough Air play to really make number One. This way any body can be number One some where on the U.S. Charts so no gets their feelings hurt.

This show has been issued on the bootleg Wooden Heart and a couple of songs have showed up on a few others. Two Singles were lifted from the show for release and over all it was a good show. Elvis is shown the album The Sun Collection during the show and claims he has never seen it before. I can only assume this was the British version. He introduces Lisa Marie Presley from the audience at age 7. Overall this is a very interesting show because of the talkative mood Elvis was in.

FTD releases are more common than RCA issues in the first five months of 2003. The three soundtrack issues and one Alternate take studio CD all came out the same day in May. The Soundtrack issues are larger in size than the standard CD issue. Nearly all of the Alternate takes here have been issued on bootlegs prior to this release. Still three or four make their debut here. So the Bootleg division of BMG continues to cover the territory already traveled by the bootleggers.

By now you might have noticed just how many FTD issues there are each year. Limited pressings with a built in market allow BMG to isolate the buyer for this market and produce a product for a set amount of buyers. So it can count on a set amount of sales for each release. The sales of this product are making BMG money or they would not produce them. Though the profit is small by comparison to the main issue of an RCA CD worldwide. This division has been on the chopping block for years for that reason alone. This would account for the amount of releases during the year. Because of the limited sales you must release more product knowing you have a guaranteed buyer. This is why the Follow That Dream label survives.

The King Remembered interview disc came with the purchase of the three soundtrack CDs from Elvis Today as a free incentive. All interviews are available elsewhere but some are very hard to find. Jerry Osborn lists the monologue as recorded on It Happened At The Worlds Fair set but every other source Ive read places it from the Girls, Girls, Girls set. Hard to tell which one is correct. Close Up is another one of those promo CD RCA said it was never releasing in the U.S. a few years ago. Promo Discs, special products and Follow That Dream issues has taken over the new issue side of Elvis latest products. Within a year RCA will delete the entire Elvis catalogue and start the re-issue process using the DSD technology used on 30 #1 Hits CD a few months ago. Store are already thinning out their inventories of Elvis products and the internet is starting to sell more CDs than retail brick and mortar stores. The world of music is changing. Illegal down loads of music from the internet are so out of control that the music industry is actually having the kids that down load the music illegally arrested. Music sales are declining at an alarming rate and in the midst of all this Elvis has his biggest selling album of all time 30 #1 Hits. Go Figure.

I Havent got a clue where they came up with the name for this CD. The name first showed up on bootleg must be some kind of Nordic thing. The cover for this piece of cheese sucks, looks like a comic book. The entire CD looks and sounds like a bootleg. Congratulations BMG youve come full circle, you are the bootleggers now. I know its hard to come out each year with this much new product on a singer thats been dead for more than 20 years but please, you can do better than this.

BMG is in the process of re-mastering all of Elvis songs in DSD and this is the latest entry for that effort. It is a poor effort. They would have better served the fans just to take The Complete Sun Sessions and re-master that CD with the additional songs that were included on the LP of the same name. I suppose a new package attracts a new audience but this issue just wont make it.

There is an Alternate Take of Blue Moon Of Kentucky on this CD that Ive forgotten about over the years. Rumor has it that Sam Phillips issued an LP called Good Rockin Tonight on the Bop Cat Label in the early 70s On it was some Jerry Lee Lewis material unissued and this alternate take of Blue Moon of Kentucky with Sam praising Elvis at the end of the song. Ive had the LP for years, Jerry Lees version of Great Balls of Fire has been picked up and issued on many other records and CDs over the years but the Elvis AT has been over looked at bit in recent years. It appears here for the first time on RCA.

Nothing very special about this issue but you can note the alternate talk of Long Legged Girl (with the short dress On). Version one and two are considerably different. Much less orchestra in version one and the tempo is slower. The Harmony take of Could I fall In Love is nice too but a lot of these takes have appeared on bootlegs.
