NESCO provides electricity distribution to five districts in northern Odisha. It was incorporated in 1997 and took over electricity distribution from GRIDCO in the area. In 1999, 51% of shares were transferred to BSES Ltd (now Reliance Energy), which now manages operations. NESCO operates across 4 circles and 14 divisions to serve over 500,000 consumers through its electricity network consisting of substations, transformers, and transmission lines spanning over 28,000 square kilometers. About Us

North Eastern Electricity Supply Company of Odisha Limited (NESCO) was incorporated on 19.11.1997 under the Companies Act, 1956. It has taken over the Business of Distribution and Retail Supply of Electricity in the North Eastern Zone of the Odisha of GRIDCO, comprising the Districts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur, and Bhadrak. Pursuant to the Odisha Electricity Reforms Act 1995 and Odisha Electricity Reforms (Transfer of Assets, Liabilities, Proceedings and Personnel of GRIDCO to Distribution Companies) Rules 1998, in the year 1998 all the assets of GRIDCO pertaining to the distribution business and distribution undertaking in the North Eastern Zone of GRDICO was transferred to NESCO vide Odisha Gazette Notification Published vide S.r.No. 750/98 dated 26/11/1998 and NESCO started its business operation on and from that date. Keeping in view the objectives of the power sector reform, the management of the Company has been handed over to BSES Ltd. (Now Reliance Energy Limited,), Mumbai on 01.04.1999, upon transfer of 51% shares hold by GRIDCO in the company in favour of BSES Ltd. through competitive bidding process.

Profile
The licensed area of operation of the Company is 28,000 sq. km and covers Five revenue districts of North Eastern Orissa namely, Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Jajpur. The Company is operating through 4 circles, 14 divisions, 41 subdivisions and 141 sections with Corporate Office based at Balasore and Registered office at Bhubaneswar. The company has achieved 100% consumer growth since it has been privatized and increased its turn over from Rs.310 Crores in 1999-00 to Rs. 750 Crores in the financial year 2006-07. Total 523510 consumers availing Un interpreted power through supply network consisting of 59 nos. of 33 Kv Feeders (2050 KM Length), 424 nos. of 11 Kv Feeders (13762 Km Length), 12 nos. of GRID S/S (132/33 Kv), 124 nos. of 33/11 Kv S/S, 245 Step down Transformers, 15303 nos. of Distribution Transformers and 16436 K.M of LT Line. Through sustainable effort and teamwork it has able to bring down its T&D loss level from 43% in the yr 1999-00 to 33% in the yr 2006-07 and expecting further reduction of 4 -5% during current financial year. In spite of all financial huddles, it is developing an efficient and reliable electricity network to meet the requirement of its diverse group of consumers. To provide single window service, it has set up Customer care centre at Balasore and is in the process of extending such services to other areas shortly. For attending the consumer grievances two grievance redressal forums are functioning one at Balasore for 337893. nos. of consumers of Balasore, Bhadrak & Mayurbhanj districts and another at Jajpur Road for the remaining 185616 nos. of consumers of Jajpur & Keonjhar districts. Besides in all the Sub-division, Division as well as Circle offices one day has been allotted especially for redressing the consumer grievances. NESCO has already taken initiative to bring IT implementation to existing system. Process is going on to implement Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA). Automatic meter reading (AMR) modem has been provided in 50numbers of its industrial consumers for pilot study and is likely to be extended to other consumers very shortly. To bring down the loss level it is conducting Energy Accounting by metering in feeders, transformers and at the consumer end. Presently 3,39,088 nos. of consumers are covered under spot billing. It is also going to manage some of the areas of its rural distribution of electricity through peoples participation (Franchisee) with an aim to cater the best services to its consumers at their door step with affordable price.

Power supply to these 4 Sub-Divisions are being fed from 220/132/33/11KV Grid Substation at Joda and 132/33KV Grid Sub-station at Palaspanga. Power supply to all the Consumers and industrial units are being fed through 9 nos.of Primary Sub-Stations, that is, 33/11KV Sub-station located at Keonjhar, Turumunga, Patna, Saharpada, Banspal, Jhumpura, Remuli, Champua and Joda.There are 24,060 nos. of different type consumers under this Division, for Which the average monthly Electrical consumption is about 34 M.U. POWE GENERATION: (4 Months) Operation & Control of 210 M.W Power Plant and its various cycles. POWER TRANSMISSION: (1 Year) Operation & Control, Maintenance of 400/220 kV Switch -Yard and HVAC Lines. Electrical Fault finding in 400/220 K.V Relay panels. POWER DISTRIBUTION: (3 Years)

Erection, Maintenance, Fault finding of 11kv feeders. Estimating and Making Site Sketch of 11kv feeder bifurcation, new 66kv S/S and Domestic, Industrial and Agriculture Load. Faultfinding /Electrical checking Domestic, Industrial load. PROJECT INCHARGE: (3 Years) Planning in detailed engineering activities, right from pl anning, procurement, execution Executing simultaneous Multi location projects as scheduled. KPI= 60000 sq. ft per Annum.

Erection, Commissioning & operation & maintenance of electrical equipments, switch yards, transformers, transmission lines of independent power plant with capacity more than 300 MW. Intensive Co-ordination with Engineering, Procurement, Planning, suppliers/contractors, Clients, Inter/Intra department to execute Projects within time frame. Project Planning, Erection & Commissioning, Monitoring, Daily Progress Review & Target Fixing. Quality Checking, Bill Verification, Technical Auditing, Material Inspections & commissioning of 400/220/33KV Switchyard, HT/LT Panels of BTG Package & Transmission line

Ensure availability of resources and its optimal Utilization. Ensure project work is done as per set standards, getting the timely reports from site people and presenting the exact project development to the management. TGs Control Desk Operation, Distribution Utilities in Routine, Preventive Maintenance distribution network consisting of switchgears, transformers and overhead lines, operation of different types of circuit breakers, fault isolation & restoration of power supply in the event of fault of the system,
