Fellowship Bazaar Planned November 23

At Potsdam United Methodist Church
Potsdam United Methodist Church will sponsor a Fellowship
Bazaar Saturday, Nov. 23, from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Santa will be
making an appearance from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., so be sure to bring
the kids!
The church, which is handicapped accessible, is located at 12 S.
Main St. (St. Rt. 721) in Potsdam. Other churches participating will

Local Author John Scalzi To Be Special Guest

At November 16 Reception at Bradford Library
On Saturday, Nov. 16, the Bradford Public Library is proud to present internationally known author, John Scalzi. John is famous for writing in the Science Fiction genre and has recently won the distinguished
Hugo Award for his novel Red Shirts: A Novel with Three Codas.
BPL will be hosting a reception in Johns honor and he will be offering a Readers Theatre segment at 10:30 a.m. that day.
Bring your personal John Scalzi books to be signed. There will
also be some of his book titles for purchase that day.
Mr. Scalzi is very humorous and succeeds in making his books
come alive with creative and amusing comments during the Readers
Theatre portion.

Local Author Larry Hamilton

To Visit Bradford Public Library
On Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 6:30 p.m., Bradford Public Library will
be presenting distinguished educator and local author Larry Hamilton.
Mr. Hamilton has authored three books that begin with the historical
Lucys Story: Right Choices But Wrongs Still Left!
Throughout his PowerPoint presentation, Larry Hamilton will be
talking about his ancestor Lucys adventures and the historical background of African Americans on the railroad line between Piqua and
Bradford. This will be a great night to listen about our local history. It
will come alive through the spoken word and visual representations.
Mr. Hamilton is a founding member of the Miami Valley African
American Genealogy Group and has also authored the article, Helping African Ancestored Americans Find Their Roots.
Light refreshments will be served.

Winter Preparation Night Hike

Offered at BNC November 16
Brukner Nature Center will have a Night Hike Winter Preparations on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m.
As many of us prepare for the busy days the last few weeks of the
year, its important to remember that many Ohio critters are also busy
making last-minute preparations for the cold winter months ahead.
Most snakes have already found their hibernacula, many squirrels
have cached away hundreds of nuts, and most birds that are going to
fly south are already on their way.
Join us as we use the bright light of the full moon to watch for
those fall migrants and discuss and search for evidence of a variety
of Ohio animals and learn what each does to prepare for the long winter ahead.
Come dressed for a family-friendly hike as we discuss other ways
animals are getting ready for winter.
This program is FREE and open to the public.

Plan to join Newton Friends for a really special night Saturday,
Nov. 16, for the annual Red & White Night! The Newton Cheerleaders
will once again kick off the basketball season by introducing the winter
sports teams. Events will begin with a Mexican Feast from 5-7 p.m.
in the cafeteria.
Come meet the elementary, junior high, and high school boys and

Food Drive To Be Sponsored By Furry Friends Grooming Salon

The 5th Annual Food Drive is being sponsored by Furry Friends Grooming Salon, 17 N. Main St., Pleasant Hill.
Bring in three non-perishable food items per dog groomed and get a FREE TOOTH BRUSHING.
Items are being collected through December 13. Last year, 15 local families received help with customer
donations.
Also, if you wish to make monetary donations in the treat jar at the salon, that money will be used to
purchase eggs, milk, and other perishable items to add to the baskets.
Furry Friends Grooming Salon will deliver the baskets again this year. Everyone who received a basket
last year was so appreciative, said Becky Christman, salon owner.

VHCC To Hold Food Drive

What does Thanksgiving mean to you? Turkey and dressing,
spending time with family and friends, holiday shopping? The list
could be endless... but theres one meaning that many people have in
common... something to be thankful for.
During this season of giving thanks, Versailles Health Care Center
residents and staff extend their gratitude to their community, and wish
everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.
During this season, VHCC would like to remember the less fortunate. There are many ways to help, including giving food to a food
bank, buying a present for a child, or just raking leaves for a neighbor.
The care center will be collecting non-perishable food items from
November 15 thru December 15. Donations will be given to the Council of Churches for community distribution. Items can be dropped off
at Versailles Health Care Center, 200 Marker Rd., Versailles. The residents and staff thank you for your generosity this holiday season!

Versailles Health Care Center invites anyone considering joint replacement surgery to a FREE Total Joint Replacement Class. This class
is offered the fourth Monday of each month at 6 p.m. in The Rehab
Clinic at Versailles Health Care Center. Dr. Chad Weber, Orthopedic
Surgeon, along with Versailles Health Care Center therapists, will provide information about the joint replacement journey.
Information about preparation, hospital procedures, risks, and
rehab will be discussed. This class will be beneficial for anyone,
whether you are in the beginning stages of contemplating joint replacement surgery or have your surgery scheduled. The class will include
handouts and a question/answer session.
Light refreshments will be provided. There will also be a door
prize to all participants, featuring a gift card, compliments of Michael
Anthonys at the Inn.
