Preface: Mumbai has the largest organised bus transport network among major Indian cities. rihanmumbai !lectric "uppl# and $ransport %B&ST' has a %leet o% single and double Decker buses& air conditioned 'olvo buses are being added to modernise the %leet.
(ver the last %ew #ears) this bus network has %aced problems due to maintenance issues and lack o% organised e*pansion. According to the surve#s conducted) at least +,,, buses run b# rihanmumbai !lectric "uppl# and $ransport - !"$. /ndertakings are standing idle in various bus depots across the cit# ever# #ear %or want o% repairs and maintenance causing serious inconvenience to the citi0ens. "tatistics show that in 1,+1 there were 2,, %ewer !"$ buses on the roads as compared to 1,++. $he number o% buses in 1,++ was 3)45, and the number in 1,+1 came down to 6)75,. 8ith the number o% buses reduced) the number o% !"$ passengers has also come down %rom 3,.5, lacs in 1,++ to 67 lacs in 1,+1. According to !"$ o%%icials) the %leet is dwindling. 9ommuters wait long minutes and then opt %or other means o% transport.

Design Brief: $he aim o% the assignment is to design a us Depot which consists o% a "tandard Repair and service %acilit#) a bus terminal to boost the bus network across the cit#. (ther necessar# public amenities are also to be considered while designing the bus terminal.

Bus Terminal $he us terminal will be the public area and shall have su%%icient road %rontage. It should be clearl# secluded %rom the service areas. $he entr# and e*its o% the $erminal area should be well planned to avoid an# tra%%ic problems due to the us movement.
