Before you begin

Read and understand these instructions before performing any procedure with this drive.
HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION, OR ARC FLASH Read and understand this manual before installing or operating the Altivar 312 drive. Installation, adjustment, repair, and maintenance must be performed by qualified personnel. The user is responsible for compliance with all international and national electrical code requirements with respect to grounding of all equipment. Many parts of this drive, including the printed circuit boards, operate at the line voltage. DO NOT TOUCH. Use only electrically insulated tools. DO NOT touch unshielded components or terminal strip screw connections with voltage present. DO NOT short across terminals PA/+ and PC/ or across the DC bus capacitors. Before servicing the variable speed drive: -Disconnect all power, including external control power that may be present. -Place a DO NOT TURN ON label on all power disconnects. -Lock all power disconnects in the open position. -WAIT 15 MINUTES to allow the DC bus capacitors to discharge. -Measure the voltage of the DC bus between the PA/+ and PC/ terminals to ensure that the voltage is less than 42 Vdc. -If the DC bus capacitors do not discharge completely, contact your local Schneider Electric representative. Do not repair or operate the drive Install and close all covers before applying power or starting and stopping the drive. Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.

Do not place it close to heating elements. Leave sufficient free space so that the air required for cooling purposes can circulate from the bottom to the top of the unit. When IP20 protection is adequate, we recommend that the vent cover on the top of the drive be removed, as shown below. Wiring
Power and circuit protection

The drive must be grounded to conform with the regulations concerning high leakage currents (over 3.5 mA). For the photovoltaic panel arrays connection, follow the recommendations from UTE C15-712-1 Where local and national codes require upstream protection by means of a residual current device, use a type A device for single-phase drives and a type B device for three-phase drives as defined in the IEC Standard 60755. Choose a suitable model integrating: High frequency current filtering, A time delay that helps to prevent tripping caused by the load from stray capacitance on power-up. The time delay is not possible for 30 mA devices; in this case, choose devices with immunity against nuisance tripping. If the installation includes several drives, provide one "residual current device" per drive. Keep the power cables separate from circuits in the installation with low-level signals (detectors, PLCs, measuring apparatus, video, telephone). If you are using cables longer than 50 m (164 ft) between the drive and the motor, add output filters (refer to the catalogue).
Control
Keep the control circuits away from the power cables. For control and speed reference circuits, we recommend using shielded twisted cables with a pitch of between 25 and 50 mm (1 and 2 in.), connecting the shielding to ground at each end.
Equipment Grounding
Ground the drive according to local and national code requirements. A minimum wire size of 10 mm (6 AWG) may be required to meet standards limiting leakage current.

The drive panel must be properly grounded before power is applied. Use the provided ground connecting point as shown in the figure below. Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury. Ensure that the resistance of the ground is one ohm or less. When grounding several drives, you must connect each one directly, as shown in the figure to the left. Do not loop the ground cables or connect them in series.

Arrangement and characteristics of the power terminals
NOTICE
Never remove the link between PO and PA/+. The PO and PA/+ terminal screws must always be fully tightened as a high current flows through the link. Failure to follow these instructions can result in equipment damage.

Parameters description SUP- menu

Parameters can be accessed with the drive running or stopped. Some functions have numerous parameters. In order to clarify programming and avoid having to scroll through lists of parameters, these functions have been grouped in sub-menus. Like menus, sub-menus are identified by a dash after their code: LIF-, for example. When the drive is running, the value displayed is that of one of the monitoring parameters. By default, the value displayed is the output frequency applied to the motor (rFr parameter). Displayed values are given as an indication. These values are not as accurate as those measured using a meter. The first fault detected is stored and displayed, flashing, on the screen: the drive locks and the programmable relay (R1A -R1C or R2A - R2C) contact opens.

RISQUE DLECTROCUTION, DEXPLOSION OU DARC LECTRIQUE
Vous devez lire et comprendre ce guide avant d'installer ou de faire fonctionner le variateur Altivar 312. L'installation, les rglages, les rparations et la maintenance doivent tre raliss par un personnel qualifi. L'utilisateur est tenu de s'assurer de la conformit avec toutes les exigences des rglementations internationales et nationales concernant la mise la terre de tous les quipements. Plusieurs pices de ce variateur, notamment les circuits imprims, fonctionnent la tension rseau. NE LES TOUCHEZ PAS. Utilisez uniquement des outils isols lectriquement. Ne touchez PAS les composants non blinds ou les connexions des vis du bornier lorsqu'une tension est prsente. Ne mettez PAS en court-circuit les bornes PA/+ et PC/ ou les condensateurs du bus DC. Avant de rparer le variateur : - Dconnectez toute alimentation, y compris l'alimentation contrle externe, pouvant tre prsente. - Placez une tiquette NE PAS ALLUMER sur tous les points de coupure. - Assurez-vous que tous les points de coupure restent en position ouverte. - ATTENDEZ 15 MINUTES pour permettre aux condensateurs du bus DC de se dcharger. Suivez ensuite la Procdure de mesure de tension du bus DC du manuel utilisateur afin de vrifier que la tension continue est infrieure 42 V. Les voyants du variateur ne sont pas des indicateurs permettant de certifier l'absence de tension du bus DC. Installez et fermez tous les couvercles avant de mettre le variateur sous tension. Le non-respect de ces instructions entranera la mort ou des blessures graves.

Alimentation et protection des circuits
Le variateur doit tre mis la terre conformment aux rglementations actuelles concernant les courants de fuite levs (au-del de 3,5 mA). Pour la connexion des panneaux photovoltaques, suivez les recommandations de UTE C15-712-1 Lorsque la rglementation locale et nationale exige une protection en amont au moyen d'un dispositif courant diffrentiel rsiduel, utilisez un dispositif de type A pour les variateurs monophass et un dispositif de type B pour les variateurs triphass conformment la norme CEI 60755. Choisissez un modle adquat intgrant : un filtre de courant hautes frquences, une temporisation pour prvenir un dclenchement caus par la charge de la capacit parasite lors de la mise sous tension. La temporisation n'est pas possible pour les appareils de 30 mA ; dans ce cas, choisissez des appareils protgs contre les dclenchements intempestifs. Si l'installation comprend plusieurs variateurs, prvoyez un dispositif courant diffrentiel rsiduel par variateur. Maintenez les cbles d'alimentation distance des circuits de l'installation acheminant des signaux de faible niveau (dtecteurs, automates, appareils de mesure, appareils vido, tlphones). Si vous utilisez des cbles de plus de 50 m (164 pieds) entre le variateur et le moteur, ajoutez des filtres de sortie (reportez-vous au catalogue).

Maintenez les circuits de contrle loigns des cbles d'alimentation. En ce qui concerne les circuits de rfrence de contrle et de vitesse, nous recommandons d'utiliser des cbles torsads blinds avec un pas compris entre 25 et 50 mm en reliant le blindage la terre chaque extrmit.
Mise la terre de l'quipement

Mettez le variateur la terre conformment la rglementation locale et nationale. Une taille de fils de 10 mm minimum (6 AWG) peut tre ncessaire pour respecter les normes limitant le courant de fuite.

Diagnostics et dpannage
Aide la maintenance, affichage des dfauts
Si un problme survient en cours de configuration ou de fonctionnement, assurez-vous que les recommandations concernant l'environnement, le montage et les raccordements ont t respectes. Le premier dfaut dtect est enregistr et affich l'cran en clignotant : le variateur est verrouill et le contact du relais programmable (R1A -R1C ou R2A - R2C) s'ouvre.
Le variateur ne dmarre pas, mais aucun dfaut ne s'affiche.

En cas d'absence d'affichage, vrifiez l'alimentation du variateur, le cblage des entres AI1 et AI2 ainsi que la connexion RJ45. Autres cas : reportez-vous au guide de programmation.
