Course Objective: Appreciate the significance of communication Improve linguistic skills of graduates. Produce Managers with sharpened problem solving approach. Sharpen the ability to apply critical thinking and decision-making skills to business. Hone the ability to work effectively with other people in diverse environments. Format, compose, and revise memos, proposals/ executive summaries, business letters, resumes and reports. Use a wider variety of communication strategies and techniques. Develop a professional voice more fitting to your personal communication style. Critique and evaluate communication behaviors in various settings. Compose, prepare, and revise written documents using business writing principles and correct grammar, punctuation, and business formats to achieve identified objectives Design Brochures and Newsletters Master strategies for developing audience-centered messages. Speak simply, logically and assertivelywhether prepared or not Know how to and be able to constructively address emotion in an audience through verbal and nonverbal communication Understand influence, and how to influence decision making and behaviour using verbal persuasion Organize a meeting, run it productively and efficiently, and write minutes Offer and receive constructive feedback Develop compelling approaches to persuade people Structure and implement a job search strategy based on guidelines established in class. presentations, problem solving, critical reading response journals, mock business activities, case analysis, quizzes, classroom assignments, and portfolios.
