LEARNING: First, you will be learning techniques and drills from some of the best track and field coaches in the Northwest, in a classroom setting. DOING: After your classroom session, youll be able to put that knowledge to use immediately by heading out to the track with our coaches to get hands-on coaching and instruction. **Field Event athletes: Please bring your implements with you!

2014 CLINICIANS
DISTANCE Jonathan Marcus - Cross Country and Assistant Track & Field Coach in charge of distance at Portland State University. He also coaches select post collegiate athletes on the Bowerman AC, Run Portland, and Team Athena running clubs. Before PSU he coached at University of Portland, Warner Pacific College, and Franklin High School. Jonathan serves as the Long Distance Chairman for the USATF Oregon Association as well as the USATF High Performance Development Coordinator for the men's Middle Distance event group. He is a meet director for the Portland Track Festival, USATF OXY High Performance meet, and the Tuesday Night at The Races indoor all comer series. SPRINTS Matt Hart Head Track & Field and Cross Country Coach at Mt. Hood Community College. In his 10th year as the Head Coach for Cross Country/ Track & Field. Competed for Mt. Hood where he was the conference champion in the 400m intermediate hurdles. He then served as an assistant coach for 8 years. As a coach, he helped recruit and coach over 70 individual conference championship performances, 20 school records and over 100 Junior College All-American performances. SHOT PUT Dave Cornell - Has coached the throws for 35 years at The Dalles-Wahtonka High School. Has coached more than 20 OSAA State Champions and 2nd place finishers, as well as 45+ medallists. One of the top throws coaches in Oregon. DISCUS Rick Hoxmeier - Former Century High School Head coach, currently doing personal throws coaching. Develops some of Oregons best throwers every year. His son threw for Boise State and daughter for the University of Oregon. Has been coaching for 33 years. He has had 23 Metro League Champions in the shot and discus. He has coached several throwers over 57 feet in the shot, with state champions in both the shot and discus. Coached the womens national leader and state record holder in 2005. Jill Hoxmeier - competed for four years for the University of Oregon in the discus and hammer and was a PAC 10/12 placer in the discus. She is currently coaching the discus and hammer at Oregon State University. JAVELIN Duncan Atwood - Two-time U.S. Olympian (threw 306' to break US trials record by 15'), National HS Javelin champion 233' after improving 120' in Junior year, 3 x US Champion. 2 x Pan American Games Champion, Ranked 3rd in the world, best throws of 308'7" with old rules, 271'5" new rules, Kinesiologist, principal coach in USATF's Elite Athlete Project, owner of Pocket Videos, LLC. Scott Halley - Mac Wilkins Throw Center - Scott's athletic highlights include a 2nd and a 1st place finish at the OSAA State meet (1996 & 1997), 3-time All American and 1-time NAIA National Champion. As a coach, Scott has worked with javelin throwers of all ages. 2011 & 2012 coaching highlights include 24 state qualifiers, 6 state champions, 1 USA Junior champion, 2 Junior Olympic champions, 1 Parapan American bronze medalist, 2 Olympic Trial qualifiers and 3 NAIA All-Americans. HIGH JUMP Jesse Williams - 2011 World Champion in high jump. 2-time USA Outdoor champion, 4-time NCAA D-I champion in high jump while competing at USC (2 indoor, 2 outdoor). 3-time high school state champion in North Carolina (former state record holder at 73). Currently competing for Oregon Track Club out of Eugene. HURDLES Fernando Fantroy - Hurdle coach at Gresham High School and Warner Pacific College, Head coach of Dare to Dream youth club, and President of The Furnace Athletic Academy. USATF Level 1 certified, and has coached 50+ State Champions in the hurdles, distance, and jump events. Fernando competed in high school and college in the Los Angeles area, running 1:47.90 in the 800m while attempting to make the USA National Team. Hes known affectionately as The Hurdle Doctor by his athletes. LONG JUMP Becca Urbany - Horizontal jumps coach at Mt. Hood Community College, also assists with sprints and hurdles. All-American in long jump and triple jump while competing at Mt. Hood Community College. Competed at Seattle University, former school record holder in long jump and triple jump. TRIPLE JUMP Mike Lariza - Jumps coach at Barlow HS, has also coached at Mt. Hood Community College coaching 50+ all-Americans in the jumps and sprints and was inducted into the NWAACC Hall of Fame in 2011. While competing at Western Oregon University he jumped 51'1" in the triple jump and 23 ft in the long jump. 11-time National masters Champion in the long jump and triple jump. POLE VAULT Tom Millbrook - Canby High School Head Coach, for many years. Sponsor of Level I USATF Track and Field Classes. USATF Level II certified in jumps and distance. Greg Hess - Head Boys Coach at Gladstone High School. Canby High School pole vault record holder, and former school record holder and 16-2 vaulter at Western Oregon University.

Registration Deadlines: You can register on the day of the clinic at HRVHS. However, PLEASE send us an email to let us know you are coming so we can plan for enough food for everyone.
