Scholarship Fellowship
SPE awards Star scholarships and fellowships annually in all 15 regions representing a one million dollar commitment to education. The program aims to support a student through a maximum of four years of university study. Sponsored by Who Can Apply? Students preparing to attend university for the first time Undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a degree related to the oil and gas industry Requirements Must be enrolled in university for a minimum of nine months from date of announcement of the award SPE member (when eligible) Minimum of one letter of recommendation, maximum of three Must answer each essay question (scholarship applicants) or prepare a statement of interest (fellowship applicants) Secondary/high school official transcript, if not enrolled in university Copy of entrance exam scores Completed current application (must be typed) Amount* Scholarship range USD 1,0005,000 Fellowship range USD 3,30010,000 *Amounts vary by region Application Deadline: 15 March

Memorial Scholarship
The Gus Archie Memorial Scholarship is supported by the Archie Fund of the SPE Foundation. Each year it is awarded to the most outstanding student attending university for the first time and provides support through up to four years of university study. Gus Archie, a pioneer in the area of formation evaluation, is credited with coining the term petrophysics. His fundamental formula is known throughout the industry as the Archie Formula. Memorial Fellowship
The Nico van Wingen Memorial Graduate Fellowship in Petroleum Engineering is supported by the van Wingen fund of the SPE Foundation. One or two awards are given annually and is renewable for up to four years. Nico van Wingen worked as an evaluation engineer, consultant, and professor of petroleum engineering. He played a major role in the development of oil production technology in the US, Austria, Canada, West Germany, Iran, Turkey, and Venezuela. Sponsored by Who Can Apply? Because of the support extended to me by SPE through the Star Scholarship, I am further motivated and driven to succeed and excel as I pursue my education and prepare for an exciting and challenging career as a petroleum engineer.
