MODELS : MUSSO & KORANDO with the turbo diesel engine

CONDITION:
Some vehicles exhaust the strong smoke when the vehicle drive in uphill road or accelerate suddenly. SYMC found that it is caused by E.G.R valve's malfunction or incorrect setting of micro-switch.

CORRECTION :
To solve this problem, SYMC improved the E.G.R system, and then issued this service bulletin. If the complaint vehicle comes to your workshop, rework it following the work procedure.

WORK PROCEDURE :
1. E.G.R Valve CHECK a. Engine starts on.

b. Wait for 100 seconds from engine start. c. confirm that the engine rpm keeps up to 600RPM. c. Check the vacuum status on the vacuum hose. 2. Check the Solenoid valve. (It is under the surge tank) a. Check the operation state of solenoid valve. b. Check the connecting condition of the connector.

3. Check the micro switch - When the roller is pressed, micro s/w makes the operating sound like this "click" "click". If the micro switch makes the sound three times, micro switch must be replaced.

- Caution : For checking the micro switch, you must remove the engine cover.

Remove the bolts 4. If you find any problem above procedure, adjust the gap between micro cam and roller of micro s/w. cam bolt

* Gap spec : 1.0mm ~ 1.2mm a. Loosen the micro cam bolt. b. Insert the thickness gauge.

c. Adjust the clearance by rotating the micro cam. d. After adjusting the clearance to the specification(1.0mm ~ 1.2mm), tight the cam bolt following the tightening torque spec ; 4.0Nm ~ 5.0Nm e. Do the emission test. 5. If the problem is not cleared yet, apply the choke filter. a. Disconnect the vacuum hose to E.G.R valve.

- When you install the chock filter, you must be attention to the direction of choke filter. Direction to E.G.R valve Direction to connector
