Please have your child check at home for any Media books they are not currently reading other than the biography selections. Thank you in advance for returning them! Language Arts We have been reading a great deal about the immigration experience with different small groups this past week. Informative essays will be completed. This week we will combine our Midwest projects with our ELA blocks as needed to complete text for our on-line books using Little Bird Tales. Our Daily 3 and Guided Reading groups will be filtered in as well.
Writing
The children have learned a great deal about the immigrant experience from using a variety of primary and secondary sources. They will complete their drafts and final copies this week in class and at home. We will also return to our favorite activity narrative.
Math
Math classwork and homework include packets from a variety of concept strands. We will also complete Unit 11 with positive/negative numbers and capacity. FAMILY LETTERS can be found on-line this year! As in past years, they contain unit vocabulary, activities, and selected homework answers. You can find these newsletters at: hLLp://everydaymaLh.uchlcago.edu/parenLs/4Lh- grade/famlly-leLLers/ If you cannot access them, please let me know.
Social Studies The class will complete their text write-ups for the Midwest sub-regions.
Science - from the desk of Mrs. Liporto We will continue our work with advanced circuits this week in science. We have already learned about a series circuit and how it has only one pathway for the energy to flow through. This week we will learn about parallel circuits, which have multiple pathways for the energy to flow through to get to and from the battery.
