Care & Support for the Infected and Affected - June
2014
June was a busy month at Tabitha. Christian Life Academy competed against other ACE schools in a netball and soccer tournament. Sweetwaters (SW) home visits reaped new believers. Buckets of Hope from BGR and the KY WMU arrived to be unloaded and distributed to the SW community. Our American volunteers painted our dorms, gave Math tests, gave our toddler room a make-over, made a netball court, lead Bible studies with the Tabitha kids, and did recreational therapy with Seth. Local South Africans also volunteered to paint, donated warm winter clothes and socks for our kids, and sponsored our kids to go to the Royal show and ride some fun fair rides. It has been a great month.
Christian Life Academy went to Sport Day hosted by International Christian Academy and competed in a Netball and Soccer Tournament against the other ACE curriculum schools. Our girls junior netball team won the tournament. Our boys intermediate soccer team won their soccer division as well. Our boys junior soccer tied for first in their soccer division but lost the tie breaker. Well done CLA kids!
Thank you BGR & KY WMU for 400+ Buckets of Hope to give fresh linens & ointments to our hospice patients in Sweetwaters! Preach and Heal By early June, we were able make house calls to the people of Sweetwaters (SW). We had 4 patients give their hearts to Christ. We got to give away 5 Zulu Bibles as well. At one home, God provided a translator just in the nick of time so the patient we counselled could understand the Good News. We followed up with a recently saved brother and found him sitting up reading his new Zulu Bible. How encouraging that was to see! Pray July will be even more fruitful as we provide an evangelistic VBS and soccer camp in Sweetwaters.
Volunteers hard at work! Our American interns have been working overtime. Shelby and Lauren worked with our Seth. He received recreational therapy. Nate and Scott painted the boys dorm, taught the boys to make forts, and built net ball goals. They also had a huge wrestle match which was a hit! Julie, Melina, and Emily painted a netball court, taught school, soccer, baking class, and Zumba. All volunteers mentored a small group and storied from Numbers to Joshua. Interns evangelized on house visits as well. Our two Am teachers (Kendra&Gina) tested our kids in math and gave our toddler area a make-over. Ryan did lots of handy-man tasks and taught morning devos.
Local Volunteers stepping forward! Thanks to the generosity of a private local donor our kids got to attend the Royal Show this year. Each child got to ride a fun fair ride. For some it was their first ride EVER! Many local South African donated much needed winter clothing and socks to warm our kid's cold feet. It is a great feeling to be warm again! Also local volunteers help paint our boys dorm, make curtains and provide shelving. Thanks so much!
Gymnastics is Fantastic!
Congrats to Mandy, Tim Tim, and Lulu for medalling in the Gymnastics competition in Pinetown this month. Mandy won a silver medal. Tim Tim and Lulu brought home the bronze medal. Well done you guys!
Sing! Sing! Sing! On the June 15th Sunday, the church the children attend had a family service. All the children stayed for the large worship service rather than being dismissed to Sunday school. Our kids got to go on stage and lead the congregation in a song. They were so excited to teach the church the new song they had learned. Brian, Ingi, and Tim Tim did a great job!
Baking Class is so delicious! Look who is crawling and pulling up? Our Miriam!-10 months
