UMTS Link Budget Calculator

This document contains formulas and calculations for uplink and downlink link budgets in a UMTS network. It includes formulas for transmitter power, antenna gain, losses, noise floor, processing gain, required SNR, receiver sensitivity, and maximum allowable path loss. Example values are provided for an uplink calculation from a UE to a Node B with a maximum allowable path loss of 125.21 dB and a downlink calculation from a Node B to a UE requiring a Node B transmit power of 19.9 dBm per user for 50 simultaneous users. Propagation loss models including Okumura-Hata and COST-231 are also referenced.
