The Opportunity The Institutional Portfolio Management team is looking for a Portfolio Manager Associate who can demonstrate a commitment to our core values of integrity, excellence, superior client service and long-term vision. They are responsible for the delivery of accurate, superior client service while working in a team environment.
The Portfolio Manager Associates are given direct responsibility for dealing with clients. These relationships are important to the organizations success; therefore, an Institutional Portfolio Manager Associate (PMA) is integral to manage the transactions and serve the needs of the client. They work closely with one or more Portfolio Managers and clients to manage client accounts, problem solve, and provide back-up and training.
Primary Responsibilities Work closely with one or more Portfolio Managers (PM) to develop, service, and maintain client relationships Respond to account activity requirements (i.e. of new account transfers) and client inquiries Resolve issues, complaints and requests from clients, custodians and/or advisors Manage administrative account activity trade preparation, verification, cash management, balancing transactions, document management, and reporting Manage client account cash positions monitor maturities, income flow, cash requirements for client requests, trades, and fees Account specific reconciliation of non-cash transactions (i.e.: corporate actions, dividends and donations) and cash reconciliations Initiate and confirm money market trades and foreign exchange trades to ensure that client cash positions are at reasonable levels Prepare and verify accuracy of mutual fund orders Produce custom client reports and analyze custom and standard reports for accuracy; review client performance returns Prepare and distribute monthly & quarterly reporting to clients Provide information to auditors to assist them in the preparation of client reporting Problem solving - forensic investigation of a variety of external and internal issues including trade settlement, custodian, and compliance Provide back-up to team as required including workflow, filling in for a colleague in their absence, and training
Education & Skills University business degree or relevant post-secondary diploma Successful completion of the Canadian Securities Course Strong knowledge of computer software: o Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint o APX Advent Portfolio Exchange (internal portfolio management system) o Custodian software Knowledge of securities and associated attributes is desirable Securities Industry/Financial Services / Investment Management background desirable
