The 22nd State Assembly District covers portions of
Richfield, Erin, Menomonee Falls, Lannon and Lisbon. Incumbent
Don Pridemore (R-Erin) announced in the spring he would not
seek another term.
There are three candidates on the ballot for Aug. 12
Republican primary: Janel Brandtjen, Nick Oliver and Blair
Rogacki. The winner of the primary will face Democratic Party
candidate Jessie Read in the Nov. 4 general election.
The Express News recently contacted all three Republican
Party candidates and asked for responses to a series of ques-
tions. The following is a summary of their responses.
Personal information
Brandtjen resides in the Creekwood Crossing neighborhood
of Menomonee Falls with her husband of 25 years and her two
daughters. She graduated from UW-Milwaukee with a B.S. in
Finance and Marketing.She is currently a small business owner
of an advertising agency in Menomonee Falls. Brandtjen is a
member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, and have been a
fundraising chair for Aquinas Academy.
Oliver has been a resident of the Colgate area since 1999.
He graduated from Riverside High School in 1988. Oliver and
his family volunteer with various organizations that pack food for
the needy. He has been a member of the Washington County
Republican party since he moved into the area and served on
the board as secretary and vice-chair before stepping back to
focus on work. Oliver has been a recipient of the Republican
Party of Wisconsin Campbell Award.
Rogacki was born in Rhinelander and raised in McFarland.
He graduated from UW-Platteville with a degree in Political
Science. He is currently employed by West Bend Mutual
Insurance Company and have been in the insurance industry
since 1993. Rogacki is involved with the Boy Scouts of America,

The Lannon Stonemen and the Sussex
Cardinals were tied for for fifth place in the Land
O'Lakes baseball West Division, with both
teams having 10-7 records. Sussex did beat
Lannon twice this season.
Lannon lost to the Brookfield Bulldogs July
27, 4-3. The Stonemen host North Lake Aug. 3
to finish the regular season.
Also on July 27, Sussex lost to the Pewaukee
Muskies, 3-1. The Cardinals will finish the regu-
lar season by hosting the Menomonee Falls
Lakers Aug. 2.
The Lakers had a 5-12 record following an
8-7 win over the Brookfield Blue Sox Aug. 2.

Dear Dr. Winter, I spent a lot of time on your website and
want to know the best way to have implants. I have read a lot
about same day teeth, implants in a day, all on 4 and its very
confusing.
Dear Jamie, the type of implant treatment you have depends
upon a lot of factors such as the amount of bone you have, the
quality of the bone, your budget, your goals and your overall
health. When we do treatment plans for patients we use a
concept Dr. Winter has published articles about called
Upgradeable Dentistry. This concept acknowledges that each
patient has different needs, wants, desires and budgets. So
patients can select options that sequentially improve a persons
condition until they get the type of implant prosthesis they
desire.
If a patient wants 4 implants to support an entire missing arch
of teeth the treatment called All-On-4 can be an option and in
some instances teeth can be made to sit on these implants on the
same day as they are placed. The problem is that loading or
putting forces on implants the day they are placed depends on
having dense bone so the insertion of the implants is solid and it
takes a certain amount of torque to insure the implants are tight
enough to place forces on them or they can fail. This is one type
of treatment that can be successful and while it has plenty of
literature to support this concept the use of more implants is the
philosophy that we use in our practice. Having 7-9 implants to
support 14 missing teeth distributes forces over more posts
than just 4 posts. In performing surgery and restorative
treatment we offer discounts based upon the number of implants
placed so we can make implant treatment more affordable.

Dear Dr. Winter how do I know if I should have my teeth
removed and have implants versus periodontal surgery for the
third time?
Dear Charles, periodontal surgery will remove diseased gum
tissue, smooth the bone to make it more cleansable and should
only need to be done one time, ideally to help preserve teeth that
didnt respond to traditional deep cleanings. When someone
needs multiple surgeries it could be a sign that significant bone
has been lost. The discussion that needs to occur would be how
long you wish to retain your teeth and are they causing any pain
or cosmetic problems. Sometimes teeth that have lost bone
have black triangles that represent where bone has been lost.
This recession can create a smile that looks long in the tooth
or esthetically displeasing.
Once a persons chief concerns are addressed the options
can be discussed, the tissues evaluated and the budget
understood so the best treatment can be rendered based upon a
persons conditions.

The public arena: What elected
offices have you run for or have served
on? Also, what municipal or county
commissions or committees have you
served on?
Oliver ran for the 22nd Assembly seat two
years ago. He has not served on any govern-
ment board or commission, but has been
involved with the Washington County
Republican Party in several capacities.
Rogacki has been a part of the Richfield
School Board since 2010, serving as vice presi-
dent, secretary and treasurer at various times.
He has also been the chairman of the Budget
Buildings and Transportation Committee during
his tenure.
In 2008, Brandtjen ran for and was elected
to the Waukesha County Board of Supervisors,
where she has served on the Health and Human
Services Committee. In 2010 she was appointed
to the Waukesha County Board Executive
Committee, and was chair of the Health and
Human Services Committee. She is also a mem-
ber of the Republican Party of Waukesha
County, the Republican Women of Waukesha
County, the National Rifle Association, and has
been endorsed by the Menomonee Falls
Taxpayer Association.
Why are you running? What
prompted you to seek the position?
In response to the question Rogacki stat-
ed:I've learned many lessons during my time
serving on the Richfield School Board. We
have been successful on controlling our levy and
budget while empowering the district to provide
an optimal educational environment for our stu-
dents. Ultimately, many mandates still drive
local budgets and levies, and to address those
mandates and associated costs, we need to be
able to impact state policy.
Rogacki further stated: The opportunity to
serve the 22nd District would provide a voice
that can accurately and enthusiastically repre-
sent our local concerns. I have a passion for
understanding the issues that confront our state
and the dedication to develop solutions by
applying conservative values and philosophies.
In response to the question Brandtjen stated:
When Rep. Don Pridemore announced he was
retiring, several of my friends talked to me and
encouraged me to run for the seat. This seat
needs an experienced, conservative leader who
shares the values that we hold and is willing to
take on the establishment when necessary.
She then stated: The most important duty of
the State Representative is to vote on the state
budget over $30 billion of spending every
year. Serving on the Waukesha County Board,
I'm used to budget debates and spending priori-
ties. During my time on the Board, several others
and I led the fight against crony capitalism, blan-
ket pay raises, and government run health care.
In response to the question Oliver stated:
I'm running because I'm tired of helping people
get elected who refuse to stand up and fight for
the Constitution. We have too many people in
office who either don't know the document or
flagrantly ignore their oaths of office. The other
candidates for the position seem to be decent
people, and so was Don Pridemore. However I
can't help but think they'd be no better than him
as a representative.
Oliver continued: (What he did well was
vote 100 percent for good conservative legisla-
tion, kudos to him for that, others failed at even
that. He was adept at taking suggestions for leg-
islation from others, but the fire that brought him
to office when I was a huge supporter was
the Taxpayer Bill of Rights, which went nowhere
under his watch). I only think that based on what
I've seen of prior office holders, you might say
I'm jaded. Who knows, one of them could be
awesome.
What are the key issues facing
Republicans in the next two years
ahead and what is your position on
those issues?
In response to the question Brandtjen said
the state budget is the most expensive issue to
come before the Legislature and said she looks
forward to working with the process to reduce
spending, tax rates and accelerate the state
economy.
Brandtjen continued: One of the legislators
I am looking forward to working with is Rep.
Dale Kooyenga, who with his CPA caucus have
led the fight to cut taxes in the Joint Finance
Committee. As a business owner, I understand
the temptation for many business owners to leave
for states with less oppressive tax codes. While it
won't happen immediately, one of the most
encouraging news to come out of Madison is
that for the first time many of our leaders are talk-
ing about repealing the state income tax.
Repealing the income tax will take time, but it will
have my complete support.
Brandtjen then added that education is an
issue that will likely be brought up in the 2015
state budget and she will seek to keep tax dol-
lars in the area instead of funding the rest of the
state through quirks in the school funding for-
mula.
Secondly, I will work to ensure parents can
make the best choices for their students. While
public schools are the right option for many of
our students (and we need to work to make sure
they continue to be the best public schools in the
country), they may not be the best option for
every student and that is why parents need to be
equipped to make that decision. Third, I agree
with the Governor that we need to repeal
Common Core and begin a transparent and vig-
orous discussion among parents, teachers, and
professors as we develop the best academic
standards in the nation in a way that leaves all
participants fully informed and understanding.
In response to the question Oliver stated:
Other people will reply with Common Core, or
Immigration reform, or lower taxes, etc., While
those are good sound bytes and people like to
discuss them, the bottom line is that if we educate
our legislators about the power of the limited role
of government under the confines of the
Constitution, then these other issues go away
they cease to exist. As to my position on them,
I'm an open book. I believe in a severely limited
role of government, and anything beyond what
we explicitly laid out in the Constitution needs to
be removed from their clutches and returned to
the people where they belong.
In response to the question Rogacki stated:
The State of Wisconsin has made great strides
over the last 312 years; the initial battle for fiscal
responsibility has been won, by closing a budg-
et deficit and the simultaneous creation of a
budget surplus, restoring the jobs market and
providing long needed tax relief on multiple lev-
els. Still a great deal of work remains.

Weekend at Lisbon Community Park on
Saturday, Aug. 9 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and
Sunday, Aug. 10 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
More than 65 re-enactors and more
than 45 camps will be on-site represent-
ing their historic period with demonstra-
tions, children's games and other activi-
ties.
Attendees can take a journey through
history by visiting a variety of re-enactors
from a variety of time periods
(Roman/Greeks, WWII, Marines, Civil
War, American Indian, Colonial coffin
maker, Historical Timekeepers, Border
Reavers and more); enjoying maneuvers
of 2nd U.S. Cavalry; seeing a live pres-
entation of colonial heritage dancers;
learning how the 1860 Navy Delgran
cannon fires and witnessing a Civil War
surgical unit re-enact war-time surgeries.
The event will also include a variety
of period music featuring instruments
such as the fife, violin, American Indian
flute and more.
Attendees can cheer on the Lisbon
Prairie Dogs and Dead City in a historic
baseball game on Saturday.
There will also be a silent auction
fundraiser. Refreshments from Komps
Custom Catering in Hartford will be
available for purchase.
Food pantry donations are appreciat-
ed.

Domestic violence
A 52-year-old Menomonee Falls woman
was arrested for disorderly conduct-domestic
violence at 6:06 p.m. July 20 after pushing
and scratching her husband at their residence
in the 14800 block of Polk Drive.
Drug possession
A 24-year-old Milwaukee man was
arrested for possession of marijuana with
intent to deliver and carrying a concealed
weapon at 8:30 p.m. July 17 after he was
stopped for reckless driving at Main Street and
Fountain Boulevard. A large amount of mari-
juana and a loaded handgun were discovered
in the vehicle. The passenger was taken into
custody on a Franklin warrant.
IID violation
A male driver was arrested on an
Ignition Interlock Device violation at 9:39 p.m.
July 19 following a traffic stop at highways 41
and 145.
Operating while intoxicated
A 52-year-old Hartland man was arrest-
ed for operating while intoxicated-fourth
offense at 8:45 p.m. July 18 after he was
stopped for speeding in 12400 block of Main
Street.
Theft
A total of $20 in cash was stolen from a
vehicle parked in a driveway at a residence in
the N7200 block of Northwood Drive July 16.
A purse, wallet credit cards and cash
were stolen from two unlocked vehicles parked
in the driveway at a residence in the N8000
block of Hilltop Drive July 16.
Vandalism
Property damage to one of the sinks in
the mens bathrooms at Village Park, N87
W17001 Garfield Drive, was reported July
18.
Warrants
taken into custody on a Waukesha County
warrant at 10:39 p.m. July 19 following a traf-
fic stop at Lilly Road and Silver Spring Drive.
A 38-year-old Milwaukee woman was
taken into custody on two Germantown war-
rants at 11:35 a.m. July 17 following a traffic
stop at Appleton Avenue and Highway Q.

POLICE BLOTTER
The 17th annual Wheeling for Healing
bike ride benefitting the Cancer Care Center
at Froedtert & the Medical College of
Wisconsin Community Memorial Hospital,
Menomonee Falls, will be held Saturday,
August 9. In addition to raising money for the
hospitals Cancer Care Center, Wheeling for
Healing honors and celebrates the many can-
cer patients who have completed or are under-
going treatment.
Craig McKee, news anchor from WISN
12, will return as this years ride marshal. The
post-ride celebration begins at 9:45 a.m. with
a picnic lunch, entertainment, raffles and
games. Participants can choose from four
routes through Menomonee Falls and
Germantown including a family-friendly 4-mile
route, a 14-mile route for more ambitious riders

Marjorie G. Peterson
Marjorie G. Peterson (nee Bushar), age
86, passed away Monday, July 28, 2014 at
ManorCare, Kenosha. Marjorie was born in
Tomahawk, WI, September 21, 1927, daugh-
ter of the late Thomas and Grace (nee
Parshall) Bushar.
Marjorie was employed for many years
by Community Memorial Hospital,
Menomonee Falls. She enjoyed polka music
and spending time with family. She will be
deeply missed.
Survivors include her daughter, Gayle
Becker of Racine; her granddaughters,
Pamela Becker of Oak Creek, Jacalyn Becker
of Tempe, AZ; brother, Wallace (Eileen)
Bushar of Tomahawk; sister, Rosalie Burclaff
of Scofield; nieces, nephews, other relatives
and many dear friends.

We seek quality inspectors for our 3 shifts. Qualified applicants must be able to read
blueprints, use basic gauging equipment, have knowledge of computers, knowledge
of GMPs, MIL-STDs and S.P.C., and work under minimum supervision. Ideal
candidates may have equivalent quality experience or a manufacturing background
where quality checks were an important part of their daily responsibilities.
