Multi-Storey Buildings - Iii: Structures'. in Other Words, The Joints Are Assumed To Be "Rigid", and There Is No Relative

This document discusses the analysis of multi-storey steel buildings with semi-rigid connections between beams and columns. It begins by introducing the concepts of rigid and pinned connections, and explains that real connections allow some flexibility. It then describes how to model the relative rotation between members using connection stiffness. Empirical models are used to represent the moment-rotation behavior of different connection types based on experimental data. Finally, it outlines how to derive the basic equations to analyze steel frames with flexible connections using the moment distribution method.
