Her maternal grandmother was from Varanasi. [3] Bhaskar grew up in Delhi, [4] where she did her schooling from Sardar Patel Vidyalaya [5] and subsequently studied English literature at Delhi Universitys Miranda House where she was classmate with another actress Minisha Lamba. She did her masters in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). [6][7][8] Career Before Swara started acting in films she was associated with N. K. Sharmas "Act One" theater group in Delhi. [9] She shifted to Mumbai in 2008, [3] started her film career with a 2009 film Madholal Keep Walking. [4][10] She was finally noticed by audience as well as critics in the film Tanu Weds Manu in which she played the role of Payal, lead actress Kangana Ranauts best friend, [2] for which she won several nominations and also the Best Supporting Actress award conferred by the Zee Cine Awards.
