Sign-ups Tuesday

Yep, its that time of

the year to dig those gloves
out and start getting the
arm into shape.
The Girls fastpitch
softball sign-ups ages 7-14
will be held on Monday,
March 16th from 5:30 to
7:00 p.m. at the Glasgow
High School.
Cal Ripken baseball
signups for ages 6-12 will
be held on Tuesday, March
17th at 5:30 p.m. at the
Glasgow East Side School
cafeteria.
The Scotty softball
team has already begun
to practice and when they
host their opening game
of the season they play
Glendive on Thursday,
March 26th, weather
permitting they will be
using Cal Ripken Field,
dubbed as one of the most
beautiful fields in Montana
by the teams who attended
last years Cal Ripken State
Tournament here.

A blast from the past, this little fellow is calling his shot at a practice from a season ago.

This season the Cal

Ripken League is happy
to be partnering with the
GHS softball team, and
all the home Scotty games
will be played down in the
coulee with the exception

of the Glasgow Invitational

which concludes the
regular season.
Were
pretty
excited to keep an open
relationship with the
school and have the girls

on our field, says Stacie

Rhoads of the Cal Ripken
League. Their season
ends where our season
begins, so there is no
scheduling conflict.

Little Ceasars as a Fundraiser

The Parent Committee of ACTION FOR

EASTERN MONTANA Glasgow Head
Start is conducting a Little Caesars
Pizza Kit Fundraiser on behalf of the
Glasgow Head Start Center.

Parents are selling a choice of
more than 26 quality products from
Little Caesars. The profits made from the
fundraiser will support the Glasgow Head Start Center

classroom materials, field trips for the children and
more.
The Little Caesars Kits include traditional pizza
kits, personal pizza kits, variety meal kits as as well as
bread and salad kits, Pizza cones and sweet treat cones,
snacks and specialty items and cookie dough kits.
The fundraiser now features the new soft pretzel crust
pepperoni pizza kit!

Parents will take orders for these products through
Friday, March 20th and the orders will be delivered on
Tuesday, March 31st.
The parents chose this fundraiser not only because
of the quality meal kits at a great value, but Head Start
also makes $5.00 profit per item. Payment is due at the
time the orders are taken and checks need to be made
payable to HEAD START PARENTS COMMITTEE.

Why days
are longer in
summer
After getting out of the Navy I was working in
a scrap yard over there in Pittsburgh. I used to work
repairing construction equipment.

One afternoon, I was taking apart a piling hammer
that had some very large bolts holding it together. One of
the nuts had corroded on to the bolt. To free it I started
heating the nut with an oxy-acetylene torch.

As I was doing this, one of the dimmest apprentices
I have ever known came along. He asked me what I was
doing. I patiently explained that if I heated the nut it
would grow larger and release its grip on the bolt so I
could then remove it.
So things get larger when they get hot, do they?
he asked.

Suddenly, an idea flashed into my mind (I know not
from where.)
Yessiree, I said, thats why days are longer in
summer and shorter in winter.
There was a long pause, then his face suddenly lit up
(even dimwits can have a shining moment now and then).

You know, I always wondered about that, he said.
