the night scene. He also used the same fluid lines to paint a cypress tree making it the focal point
of the painting.
Because The Last Supper is painted on a wall in Santa Maria della Grazie, it would be a
high-angle view. The painting is so big it makes me feel as if i was part of the painting. Starry
Night is framed in a museum at eye-level. Being framed at eye-level it would make me feel close
not because its where i can touch it, but because the colors make you feel like youre part of the
painting. Both of these paintings are very good and give you a close feeling as the viewer.
We all know that in the painting The Last Supper Christ is the focus point, this is why
Leonardo da Vinci uses different colors on his clothing. The color blue is used on all the disciples
clothing including Christ, but he is also wearing a reddish/orange color that stands out from the
rest. Over the table is a white cloth, which shows the purity and emotional cleanness of Christ.
The colors Da Vinci used in The Last Supper are neither masculine nor feminine to me, i would
say neutral. Van Gogh's choices of colors for his painting Starry Night are yellows, white, blues
and greens. He uses the yellow colors to emphasize the stars and the moon to make them stand
out. In the sky he uses a yellow and white swirl effect which brings attention to the sky. Van
Gogh uses a mint color to show a shadow of the moon, in the tree he uses vertical lines and a
darker color.
Van Goghs Starry Night offers many lines and texture; he uses a swirling effect in the
sky. In the cypress tree it is said he used vertical lines, and brush strokes are very obvious in his
famous Starry Night painting. In the other hand Leonardo da Vinci uses a triangle shape to give
attention to Christs body. These lines also blend in with the ceiling and walls; The Last Supper
shows horizontal lines that end all in the same place on top of Christs head.

In Starry Night it is told that Vincent Van Gogh used his own style some people would
say it demonstrates hope. He uses the stars and moons to make it understandable that even in the
dark night there is light, also represents heavenly thoughts. Van Gogh uses the bold dark colors
to represent the peace of death. Many say he was going through some illness at the time the
painting was being painted. The Last Supper is based on Christ and his disciples having the last
meal before one of them betrays him. Leonardo da Vinci did add focus points to Christ and also
added the white table cloth, something that back to Christ time would not have been used.
Leonardo da Vincis accomplishment by painting The Last Supper was for people to
know what went on during Christ time. How the Last Supper was taken place and how the
disciples were set up, although no one really knows how this scene took place. Like i described
in the paragraph before Vincent Van Goghs painting Starry Night was to show people that even
in the dark there is still light. He uses the stars and moon to represent the light and also uses the
lights coming out of the windows in the village below the sky. These two men were great artist
and painted in their unique ways.
