Once upon a time, there lived a kind hearted man and his wife. One morning, his wife found a
poor little sparrow. She took it gently and fed it. To show its gratitude, the sparrow stayed with
them and sang every morning. But there was an ill-tempered old woman who didn't like the
sparrow. She cut the sparrow's tongue. That's why the bird flew away to its previous nest.
Knowing that their sparrow flew away, the kind man and his wife looked for the sparrow. They
walked a long way, crossed the bridges, climbed the mountains and passed the woods.
At last, they could find the sparrow's nest. The sparrow welcomed them and provided a feast for
them. Before they went home, the sparrow brought two baskets; one was large and looked heavy,
and the other one was small and light. The sparrow asked them to choose only one. They chose
the small and that was the best choice. There were many rolls of silk and piles of gold in it.
Being jealous, the ill-tempered old woman did the same thing as the kind man and his wife did.
She chose the big basket which actually contained wasps and venomous crawlers, such as
scorpions, centipedes, and other horrible creatures. Finally, aaathey stung and bit her to death.
He did not have any money and he did not have a house. His body was very thin. He suffered
skin disease, his skin was full of black dots.
Jantur did not have a way to go, he just walked and walked. Finally, he arrived at his parents
house. Menur was in front of the house sweeping the floor. At first, they did not recognize each
other. Menur thought that Jantur was a beggar.
Are you hungry? Here, I have some food, said Menur. Jantur was happy. He was so hungry
that he did not recognize his sister. However Menur knew him. Jantur? Is that you brother?
Father, mother, Jantur is here!! screamed Menur. Jantur my son, what happened to you? said
his mother. Jantur was surprised. Mother, is that really you? Father, mother, and Menur! Please
forgive me. I was punished by God. I suffer an illness, Im poor, and I dont have a house to live.
I have done bad things to you all. I promise I will be good, promised Jantur.
The family now reunited. They have already forgiven Jantur and amazingly Jantur was cured.
And as he promised, Jantur became a very good man.
Father Eyes
Once in a city, there was a skinny young boy who loved football with all his heart. Practice after
practice, he eagerly gave everything he had. But being half the size of the other boys, he got
absolutely nowhere. At all the games, this hopeful athlete sat on the bench and hardly ever
played. This teenager lived alone with his father, and the two of them had a very special
relationship.
Even though the son was always on the bench, his father was always in the stands cheering. He
never missed a game. This young man was still the smallest of the class when he entered high
school. But his father continued to encourage him but also made it very clear that he did not have
to play football if he didn't want to. But the young man loved football and decided to hang in
there. He was determined to try his best at every practice, and perhaps he'd get to play when he
became a senior.
All through high school he never missed a practice nor a game but remained a bench-warmer all
four years. His faithful father was always in the stands, always with words of encouragement for
him.
When the young man went to college, he decided to try out for the football team as a "walk-on."
Everyone was sure he could never make the cut, but he did. The coach admitted that he kept him
on the roster because he always puts his heart and soul to every practice, and at the same time,
provided the other members with the spirit and hustle they badly needed.
The news that he had survived the cut thrilled him so much that he rushed to the nearest phone
and called his father. His father shared his excitement and was sent season tickets for all the
college games. This persistent young athlete never missed practice during his four years at
college, but he never got to play in a game.
It was the end of his senior football season, and as he trotted onto the practice field shortly before
the big playoff game, the coach met him with a telegram. The young man read the telegram and
he became deathly silent.
Swallowing hard, he mumbled to the coach, "My father died this morning. Is it all right if I miss
practice today?" The coach put his arm gently around his shoulder and said, "Take the rest of the
week off, son. And don't even plan to come back to the game on Saturday."
Saturday arrived, and the game was not going well. In the third quarter, when the team was ten
points behind, a silent young man quietly slipped into the empty locker room and put on his
football gear. As he ran onto the sidelines, the coach and his players were astounded to see their
faithful teammate back so soon. "Coach, please let me play. I've just got to play today," said the
young man. The coach pretended not to hear him. There was no way he wanted is worst player in
this close playoff game.
But the young man persisted, and finally feeling sorry for the kid, the coach gave in. "All right,"
he said. "You can go in." Before long, the coach, the players and everyone in the stands could not
believe their eyes. This little unknown, who had never played before was doing everything right.
The opposing team could not stop him. He ran, he passed, blocked, and tackled like a star.
His team began to triumph. The score was soon tied. In the closing seconds of the game, this kid
intercepted a pass and ran all the way for the winning touchdown. The fans broke loose. His
teammates hoisted him onto their shoulders. Such cheering you never heard.
Finally, after the stands had emptied and the team had showered and left the locker room, the
coach noticed that this young man was sitting quietly in the corner all alone. The coach came to
him and said, "Kid, I can't believe it. You were fantastic! Tell me what got into you? How did
you do it?"
He looked at the coach, with tears in his eyes, and said, "Well, you knew my dad died, but did
you know that my dad was blind?" The young man swallowed hard and forced a smile, "Dad
came to all my games, but today was the first time he could see me play, and I wanted to show
him I could do it!".
The stars were scattered across the sky, for they found it very difficult to hang on when the Moon
was sneezing so hard.
All through that night the moon sneezed and sneezed. No-one got a wink of sleep and everyone
felt very tired and grumpy next morning.
"What are we going to do?" neighbours asked one another-but nobody had the least idea.
"How long does a bad cold usually last?" someone asked the chemist in the shop down the street.
"At least a week," he said gravely, "and in some cases up to a fortnight!"
Everybody groaned. No sleep for a fortnight.....it was unthinkable!.
"What the Moon really needs is a bottle of my best cold medicine," the chemist went on, "that
will stop him sneezing in a jiffy."
"This all sounds very silly indeed," said a lady who lived in one of the houses. "How on earth
can we give medicine to the Moon?"
"Somebody could float up there in a ballon," said one little boy "they do it all the time in nursery
rhymes and fairy stories!"
"That sounds like a very good idea to me," a man spoke up, "I have a hot-air balloon and would
gladly help the Moon's bad cold!"
First the medicine had to be mixed. The chemist found everything he needed and put all the
ingredients into a great big bowl. He had a giant bottle in his shop window so he carefully
poured the cold mixture into that.
"So far so good," smiled the chemist looking very pleased with himself.
"We shall need a giant spoon!" piped up the little boy (whose idea it was in the first place).
"I've just the thing," cried the baker. "I use it to stir my cakes at Christmas time.......I've such a lot
to make!"
So straight away he ran to his shop to fetch the giant spoon.
The man who owned the hot-air balloon started getting things ready.
The little boy (whose idea it was in the first place), was going up in the basket to give the Moon
the medicine.
By the time darkness fell and the Moon appeared in the sky, everything was ready.
You could hear that the Moon's cold was no better, in fact he sounded much worse. Even the
clouds were being blown all over the place.
"Soon we shall be sneezing instead of twinkling," some of the stars grumbled loudly.
At long last the man in the hot-air balloon and the little boy, (whose idea it was in the first place),
reached the Moon.
Very, very carefully the little boy gave the Moon the cold medicine from the giant spoon.
"Is it alright to take the whole bottle?" asked the Moon wheezing and sneezing.
"Perfectly alright," the little boy replied, "it says so on the label!"
The cold medicine worked wonders. In next to no time the Moon recovered and all was peace
and quiet.
Everyone in the houses had a good night's sleep, for there was nothing to disturb their
slumbers......and the cats walked along the rooftops as usual and gazed up at the moon, who was
asleep too!

A long time ago, in a small village near the beach in West Sumatra, a woman
and her son lived. They were Malin Kundang and her mother. Her mother was
a single parent because Malin Kundang's father had passed away when he
was a baby. Malin Kundang had to live hard with his mother.
Malin Kundang was a healthy, dilligent, and strong boy. He usually went to
sea to catch fish. After getting fish he would bring it to his mother, or sold
the caught fish in the town.
One day, when Malin Kundang was sailing, he saw a merchant's ship which
was being raided by a small band of pirates. He helped the merchant. With
his brave and power, Malin Kundang defeated the pirates. The merchant was
so happy and thanked to him. In return the merchant asked Malin Kundang to
sail with him. To get a better life, Malin Kundang agreed. He left his mother
alone.
Many years later, Malin Kundang became wealthy. He had a huge ship and
was helped by many ship crews loading trading goods. Perfectly he had a
beautiful wife too. When he was sailing his trading journey, his ship landed
on a beach near a small village. The villagers recognized him. The news ran
fast in the town; Malin Kundang has become rich and now he is here.
An old woman ran to the beach to meet the new rich merchant. She was
Malin Kundangs mother. She wanted to hug him, released her sadness of
being lonely after so long time. Unfortunately, when the mother came, Malin
Kundang who was in front of his well dressed wife and his ship crews denied
meeting that old lonely woman. For three times her mother begged Malin
Kundang and for three times he yelled at her. At last Malin Kundang said to
her "Enough, old woman! I have never had a mother like you, a dirty and
ugly woman!" After that he ordered his crews to set sail. He would leave the
old mother again but in that time she was full of both sadness and angriness.
Finally, enraged, she cursed Malin Kundang that he would turn into a stone if
he didn't apologize. Malin Kundang just laughed and really set sail.
In the quiet sea, suddenly a thunderstorm came. His huge ship was wrecked
and it was too late for Malin Kundang to apologize. He was thrown by the
wave out of his ship. He fell on a small island. It was really too late for him to
avoid his curse. Suddenly, he turned into a stone.

There was once a shepherd-boy who kept his flock at a little distance from the village. Once he
thought he would play a trick on the villagers and have some fun at their expense. So he ran
toward the village crying out, with all his might,
Wolf! Wolf! Come and help! The wolves are at my lambs!
The kind villagers left their work and ran to the field to help him. But when they got there the
boy laughed at them for their pains; there was no wolf there.
Still another day the boy tried the same trick, and the villagers came running to help and got
laughed at again. Then one day a wolf did break into the fold and began killing the lambs. In
great fright, the boy ran for help.
Wolf! Wolf! he screamed. There is a wolf in the flock! Help!
The villagers heard him, but they thought it was another mean trick; no one paid the least
attention, or went near him. And the shepherd-boy lost all his sheep.

The Best Example of Descriptive Text about a Cat
Gregory is my beautiful gray Persian cat. He walks with pride and grace, performing
a dance of disdain as he slowly lifts and lowers each paw with the delicacy of a
ballet dancer. His pride, however, does not extend to his appearance, for he spends
most of his time indoors watching television and growing fat.
He enjoys TV commercials, especially those for Meow Mix and 9 Lives. His familiarity
with cat food commercials has led him to reject generic brands of cat food in favor
of only the most expensive brands.
Gregory is as finicky about visitors as he is about what he eats, befriending some
and repelling others. He may snuggle up against your ankle, begging to be petted,
or he may imitate a skunk and stain your favorite trousers. Gregory does not do this
to establish his territory, as many cat experts think, but to humiliate me because he
is jealous of my friends.
After my guests have fled, I look at the old fleabag snoozing and smiling to himself
in front of the television set, and I have to forgive him for his obnoxious, but
endearing, habits.

Title : Making Candles
Tool and Ingredient :
wax moulds,
wick,
dye discs,
essential oils,
Steps :
First of all, melt the wax. All wax has a flash point, so to prevent it bursting into flames,
you must melt it in a double boiler, with water in the bottom pan.
Then, prepare the mould with the wick. Thread the wick through the mould and make
sure that you leave a good few centimetres sticking out of the hole in the bottom.
After that, add the scent. If you want a scented candle, add a few drops of essential oil to
the melted wax. You can use any essential oil you like, as long as it doesn't contain water.
Next step, pour the wax into the mould. Try and tip the wax into the mould quickly, all in
one go, to minimise spillage and air bubbles.
Then, release the bubbles and top it up. Releasing the air bubbles will eventually make
the candle sink, so you will need to top it up with more melted wax.
Finally, remove it from the mould. After four or five hours, the candle can be taken out of
its mould.
Your candle is now ready for display. Remember, you must always leave it for a day
before lighting it.
You can eat eggs raw, boiled or cooked in a pan as scrambled eggs or an omelet. Boiling
eggs is one of the easiest ways to prepare them. Follow the steps!
Finally, Remove the egg with a spoon or ladle and let it cool slowly, or run cold water
over it to cool it more quickly.
Having a kite flying is interesting and make it by self is easy. Prepare the following materials to
make a kite:
Butcher cord
Scotch tape or glue
1 Sheet of strong paper
2 Strong, straight wooden sticks of bamboo
Markers, paint or crayons
After the materials have been prepared, the directions bellow is easy instruction on how to make
a kite:
1. Make a cross with the two sticks, with the shorter stick placed horizontally across the longer
stick.
2. Tie the two sticks together with the string in such a way as to make sure that they are at right
angles to each other.
3. Cut a notch at each end of the sticks. Make it deep enough for the type of string you are using
to fit in to. Cut a piece of string long enough to stretch all around the kite frame.
4. Lay the sail material flat and place the stick frame face down on top. Cut around it, leaving
about 2-3cm for a margin. Fold these edges over and glue it down so that the material is tight.
5. Make a tail by tying a small ribbon roughly every 10cm along the length of string.
6. Decorate your kite with the markers!
Contoh/Example of Report Text "Volcano"
Volcano Eruption
Volcanic eruptions have caused some of the worst disasters in the world. They can wipe out
entire cities and kill thousands of people.
The name of volcano comes from Roman term. It derives from VULCAN which is the name of
Roman fire god. Romans believed that Vulcan lived on a volcanic Italian coast. Romans called
the island VULCANO.
According to scientists, volcanic eruptions are divided in to four basic groups. They are
commonly known as Hawaiian, Strombolian, Vulcanian and Peleean. The term of Hawaiian
eruptions are named after the volcanoes in Hawaii. These volcanic eruptions are the least violent
type. They produce highly fluid lava which flows quietly. This gradually builds up a shield
volcano.
Strombolian eruptions are named after Stromboli. These result from the constant release of gas
from the magma. As the gas escapes, it produces tephra that piles up, turning into a cinder cone.
Strombolian eruptions happen when sticky magma plugs the central vent. This makes the
magmatic gas build up pressure until it blasts. The magma is turned into volcanic dust and
bombs.
Vulcanian eruption which comes from the ancient Roman belief, are more violent than the
strombolian eruption. Vulcanian eruption happens and brings magma which is more viscous.
Vulcanian explosions are usually larger and noisier than the Strombolian eruptions.
Paleean eruptions are famous as the most violent kind of volcanic eruptions. The name of
paleean comes from the eruption of Mount Pelee, Martinique in 1902. It killed almost 38
thousands people. A Peleean eruption occurs when the magmatic gas build up tremendous
pressure. This causes violent explosions with glowing clouds of hot ash and dust.

Mangrove Trees
A mangrove is a tropical marine tree. Mangroves have special aerial roots and salt-filtering tap
roots which enable them to thrive in brackish water. Brackish water is salty but not as salty as sea
water. Mangrove trees are commonly planted and found in coastal areas. Mangroves can serve as
walls of protection for natural disaster in coastal area like tsunami. According to BBC News,
healthy mangrove forests had helped save lives in the Asia disaster tsunami and people tended to
respect these natural barriers even more, especially after the tsunami.
There are several species of mangrove tree found all over the world. Some prefer more salinity,
while others like to be very-close to a large fresh water source such as river. Some prefer areas
that are sheltered from waves. Some species have their roots covered with sea water every day
during high tide. Other species grow on dry land but are still part of the ecosystem. The Times of
India reported that rare species of mangrove had been found and was also known as the lookingglass tree, probably because the leaves are silver-coated.
Mangroves need to keep their trunk and leave above the surface of the water. Yet they also need
to be firmly attached to the ground so they are not moved by waves.
Any part of root that appears above the water flows oxygen to the plant under water surface. as
the soil begin to build up, these roots procedure additional roots that become embedded in the
soil.

Kinds of Earthquake
Earthquake often happens around us. It brings great damages. Earthquake is hard to be predicted
and that makes lot victims.
Actually there are three kinds of earthquake. This kinds of earthquake are commonly base on the
factor and geological area where the earthquakes happen. These three kinds of earthquake are
tectonic, volcanic and explosion.
Tectonic earthquakes is most common one. This kind of earthquake happens while earth's crust
rocks break because of the geological strength created by moving of the earth's plates.
Volcanic earthquakes happen exactly with volcanic activity. Volcanic earthquakes are when the
volcano produces acidic lava, which drys quickly, when it drys quickly it blocks the top of the
volcano. This make no more magma can escape. Pressure starts to build up and eventually the
acidic lava can no longer stand the pressure. So the volcano is free to explode, the pressure is
released so fast that an earthquake is caused. A volcanic earthquake is usually kept within 10-20
miles of the volcano.
Explosion earthquakes are the result of the collapse earthquakes that are small earthquakes
occurring in underground mines and caverns.

What is a tornado?
Tornadoes are known as one of the most damaging disasters. What is the description of
tornadoes? A tornado is a very powerful column of winds which spirals around a center of low
atmospheric pressure. A tornado will look like a large black funnel which hangs down from a
storm cloud.
The name "tornado" derives from the Latin "tonare". It means "to thunder." While the Spanish
developed the word into "tornear" which means "to turn or twist". This is why a tornado is
sometimes called twister or cyclone.
The winds inside a twister can spin around at speeds up to 500 miles an hour, but it usually
travels at roughly 300 miles an hour. This speed twisting makes a tornado the most dangerous
storm.
The average tornado has a diameter of about 200 to 300 yards. The smaller tornadoes are known
as satellite tornadoes. These small offspring, about 50 yards across, can be very fierce and do lots
of damage.
The forming of a tornado can be very quick. Sometimes it can form in a minute or less. A
tornado can travel across the ground at high speeds, then it can suddenly vanish. Most tornadoes
last less than twenty minutes and travel less than 15 miles. However, the super storms sometimes
travel over 100 miles before they are exhausted.

found in it natural habitat.
The trunk is the elephant's peculiar feature. This trunk has various usages. The elephant draws up
water by its trunk and can squirt the water all over its body like a shower bath. The elephant's
trunk also lift leaves and put them into its mouth. In fact, the trunk serves the elephant as long
arm and hand. An elephant looks very clumsy and heavy and yet an elephant can move very
quickly.
The elephant is very intelligent animal. Its intelligence combined with its great strength makes an
elephant a very useful servant to man. Elephant can be trained to serve in various ways such as

Komodo Dragon
Do you know what is the largest lizard? This lizard is called komodo. It lives in the scrub and
woodland of a few Indonesian islands.
Komodo dragon is the world's heaviest lizard, weighing 150 pounds or more. The largest
Komodo ever measured was more than 10 feet (3 meters) long and weighed 366 pounds (166 kg)
but the average size of komodo in the wild is about 8 feet (2.5 meters) long and 200 pounds (91
kg)
Komodo has gray scaly skin, a pointed snout, powerful limbs and a muscular tail. They use their
keen sense of smell to locate decaying animal remains from several miles away. They also hunt
other lizards as well as large mammals and are sometimes cannibalistic.
The Komodo dragon's teeth are almost completely covered by its gums. When it feeds, the gums
bleed, creating an ideal culture for virulent bacteria. The bacteria that live in the Komodo
dragon's saliva causes septicemia, or blood poisoning, in its victims. A dragon will bite its prey,
then follow it until the animal is too weak to carry on.
This lizard species is threatened by hunting, loss of prey species and habitat loss.

Children Day's
On Children's Day in 1999, a technology company treated more than 200 underprivileged
children to a 'high-tech' experience. They were given training on information technology.
The company wanted to provide opportunities for these children to learn more about the Internet
and the latest technology. They wanted to help the less fortunate in the community.
The children had an enjoyable and educational experience that day. They were exposed to the
new technology for the first time and they were very interested. The company hoped to conduct
many more such training sessions for these children. They fell that the skills the children had
would be useful to them when they grew up.
The company was very active in caring for the less fortunate. They even put aside one day a year
for their employees to do volunteer work to help the needy. They also donated money to many
charitable organisations.
Many people had benefited from their efforts. Many also praised the company for being so
generous towards the needy.
Many embassies, including the British and the American, are advising their people to cancel
spending their planned holidays in Indonesia, and all U.S. citizens in the country have been told
to leave including diplomats and non-essential government staff.

was an earthquake. I knew it was an earthquake when I saw some telephone and electricity poles
falling down to the ground, like matchsticks.
Then I saw a lot of rocks tumbling across the road. I was trapped by the rock. Even I could not
move my car at all. There were rocks everywhere. There was nothing I could do but left the car
and walked along way to my house, in the town.
When I reached my town, I was so surprised that there was almost nothing left. The earthquake
made a lot of damage to my town. Although nothing was left, I thanked God that nobody was
seriously injured.

"Visiting Bali" Contoh . Example a recount text
There were so many places to see in Bali that my friend decided to join the tours to
see as much as possible. My friend stayed in Kuta on arrival. He spent the first three
days swimming and surfing on Kuta beach. He visited some tour agents and
selected two tours. The first one was to Singaraja, the second was to Ubud.
On the day of the tour, he was ready. My friend and his group drove on through
mountains. Singaraja is a city of about 90 thousands people. It is a busy but quiet
town. The street are lined with trees and there are many old Dutch houses. Then
they returned very late in the evening to Kuta.
The second tour to Ubud was a very different tour. It was not to see the scenery but
to see the art and the craft of the island. The first stop was at Batubulan, a center of
stone sculpture. There my friend watched young boys were carving away at big
blocks of stone. The next stop was Celuk, a center for silversmiths and
goldensmiths. After that he stopped a little while for lunch at Sukawati and on to
mass. Mass is a tourist center
My friend ten-day-stay ended very quickly beside his two tour, all his day was spent
on the beach. He went sailing or surfboarding every day. He was quiet satisfied.
