1. This document outlines the code of conduct for using the internet and computer network at Cohuna Secondary College. Breaking any of the terms will result in loss of access. 2. The terms require that internet and network use be for curriculum purposes only, and that students behave responsibly and follow all computer usage rules. Material dealing with pornography or extreme violence is prohibited. 3. Students must acknowledge sources and not break copyright laws when copying or downloading others' work. Network and printing resources should be used efficiently and hardware/software should not be damaged or unauthorized programs downloaded.

Code of Conduct

Information Technology, Internet and Computer Network Users


This Code of Conduct must be completed and signed to use the Internet and computer network at Cohuna Secondary College. This page must be shown when requested.
Breaking any of the terms of the agreement listed below will result in immediate disqualification from Internet and network access at school.
1.

Use of the Cohuna Secondary Colleges Information Technology (IT) equipment, software, Internet and computer network, including e-mail, is for curriculum purposes only. I will not use the
College computer network to access any information unrelated to my schoolwork.

2.

While using the Colleges IT resources, Internet and network I will behave in a mature, responsible and polite manner. I will follow all computer useage rules and processes. I will not disclose to
anyone my username or password for the network or Internet.

3.

Material dealing with pornography or extreme violence is not permitted at the College. I will therefore not access these materials.

4.

Information on the Internet may be inaccurate or misrepresent people. I will therefore use such
information with care.

5.

I will not access Facebook, Twitter or any other networking site at school using school computers,
personal laptops or mobile devices such as phones and iPods.

6.

I will not break copyright laws, e.g. by copying another persons work without first acknowledging
it (and giving the URL), or by downloading copyright material, including games and music.

7.

To be fair to other members of the College I will use my internet and network time efficiently.

8.

To be environmentally responsible I will keep my printing to a minimum (e.g. I will proofread from
the screen and only print the pages I really need).

9.

I will not damage or change any hardware or software including loading or downloading any unauthorised programs or files.

10.

In all communication with others over the Internet or through the network I will be respectful and
use appropriate written expression, just as I would any written assignment.

11.

I will follow the same agreement should I bring my own laptop and/or Netbook to school.

12.

I will only use my own wireless Internet connection device on my own laptop.

13.

I will respect the security settings on all computers and of the School Internet Provider.

14.

I will log off correctly and leave my terminal and work area in a tidy and correct state.
I have read and agreed to these conditions.
