Dear Parents,
MESSAGE OF THE WEEK

We are hoping to hold our sports days next week for Years 1 6 if the weather is kind! We shall inform you of any
change of date nearer the event when we receive a more accurate forecast. All children will require their PE kits with
their coloured team shirt. We do hope that you will be able to join us for your childs event. You are welcome to
follow your child around the carousel of activities and take photographs as long as they for personal use and not
shared on social media. Children will be working hard on a variety of skills and earning team points for each one. The
final result will be shared after the whole school event on Friday afternoon.

CHINESE GUESTS FROM FUZHOU JULY
Last year we successfully hosted a group of Chinese pupils at our school and have been asked to do this again this July.
This was a really positive experience last year expressed by all families and children who befriended our guests and
accommodated them. This was a new experience for our school and it seemed to have very encouraging impact on
our children and our guests. We are hoping that we can again accommodate 15 Chinese pupils with families from our
school in Years 4, 5 and 6. Our guests will be 10-11 year old children and they will have varying levels of English
language. Many parents who looked after our Chinese guests last year loved the experience and expressed how much
fun their families got from the experience. There is a slip attached to this newsletter to let you show an interest in
offering a place to stay for a week for our guests. Once you have made us aware of your interest, further information
will follow.
CLASS BLOGS
For your information, if you wish to follow your class blog, you can access this through the school website as usual or
through searching www.wldps.com/CLASSNAME e.g. wldps.com/elephant. This information is as a result to
improvements that have been made to our own website.
PARENTS/CARERS INTERNET SAFETY TRAINING
th

Training is being provided for any interested parents at Lostock Hall Academy on Wednesday 8 June at 6pm in the
main hall. In an age where many of us learn about new technology from our children themselves, this will aim to raise
parental awareness of the risks posed to your children online.
EMAIL ADDRESSES - URGENT
We sent our newsletter electronically last week for the first time and out of 278 emails sent from addresses that have
been shared with us, 153 were opened, 86 were unopened, and 13 bounced. Other strange things happened to the
remaining few! As half term approaches we intend to stop delivering newsletters by paper. Please ensure your email
address is with us as important dates and information regarding school routine, learning and educational visits may
very likely be missed in the future. A few copies of the Wednesday Weekly will be made available in the front
entrance of the school each week.
FOOTBALL CLUB
th

Tuesday 17 May will be the last session for Football club this year for both boys and girls.

SAINSBURYS VOUCHERS
