The report should include the title, definition, scientific explanation of causes, early warning systems, how it is measured, and effects on people. It should also discuss preparedness before, during, and after the disaster. Students will present their project and model, and be expected to answer questions from the teacher and classmates. Their grade will be based on the quality, content, and organization of their presentation, as well as their ability to explain the model and answer questions about the natural disaster.

Grade ScienceTask: Become the class expert
for a natural disaster. You will research a natural disaster and also
build a model of the natural disaster researched.
Natural Disaster Project Introduction:

Procedure: 1. Research a natural assigned natural disaster. You


must have at least three (3) credible sources.
2. Presentation should include information on the following:
a. Title Page with your name; name of your natural disaster and
picture, school name and grade
b. Definition of your natural disaster
c. Scientific explanation of the cause of your natural disaster
d. early warning systems
e. how the natural disaster is measured (if any)
f. Emergency preparedness
i. Before (including a list of basic supplies needed for an
Emergency/Disaster Supply Kit)
ii. During
iii. After
g. Effects
h. This project must be submitted on June 08th, 2016.
Presentations will commence from June o8th 10th 2016.
As the class expert, you will be expected to answer questions
from your teacher and your classmates.
This grade will go towards the term mark.

Your grade will be based on the following:


Quality of your presentation (approximately 50%).
Content of your presentation
Attractiveness of your presentation (graphics, fonts, special effects)
Oral Presentation ability to explain your model) (approximately 25%)
Adhering to the time limit
Delivery of your presentation
Ability to answer questions about your natural disaster (approximately 25%)

Your Write up should include:


What causes your natural disaster?

That means how did it form?

What causes it to happen?

And/or why does your disaster occur?


What affect does your natural disaster have on people's lives?

That means what kind of damage does your natural disaster cause?

How are people effected (damages to homes, loss of jobs, injury, and/or death to love
ones?)

How many people are injured or die from your disaster? How does that happen?
How often does your natural disaster occur?

That means does your disaster happen every day, once a year, or once in a lifetime?

Does your disaster happen in one part of the World more than other places?
What is the biggest or worst occurrence your natural disaster?

That means when did the biggest or strongest recorded event of your disaster's history
take place?

When and where did your disaster do the most damage in Dominica or any Caribbean
country?

When and where in the World has the most recent of your disaster happened?
Describe when or if your natural disaster ever happened in Dominica.
Include as many pictures as needed to help tell the story.
