Recent productions by CPP included The Vagina Monologues in 2015 and The Charitable Sisterhood of Second
Trinity Victory Church earlier this year. Both shows were
opportunity for brand new actors to try their stuff as well as
for more experienced performers to return to the stage. Performances were held in both Trail and Castlegar, reflecting
the fact that cast and crew were from diverse communities.
Our first fall gathering will be held on Thursday, September 8 at 7 pm in the Iona Hall at St. Andrews Church in Trail.

worth the beautiful drive north up the
shore of Kootenay Lake. This up-thelake escape takes you to a heart warming place with lovely people. Once you

A much anticipated feature of the Argenta fair is the arrival of the Honey Truck.
Bring your containers and fill them up
with golden streams of Grand Forks honey. Argenta is justly famous for the
quality of its musicians. Enjoy live entertainment and

Once it gets dark, the
stage is set for the
fairs finale. Everyone
gathers in a circle and,
in the middle of a field,
the stick monument is set
afire, weather permitting.

off with a pancake breakfast at a picnic
table under leafy trees. Then, if youre at
the Pass Creek Fall Fair, your day just gets
better! Watch a blacksmithing demo,
cheer on the lawnmower racers, check
out the farm exhibits competing for a
whopping $2400 in cash prizes! The
main event that will wow the crowds will
be the Global FMX Extreme Motocross
show. New this year are horse-drawn
carriage rides and on Sunday a motorcycle Show n Shine. Boogie to Blue Crush
at the family dance on Saturday, 5 8pm.
This is a great place to show kids what
rural living is all about, to become familiar with farm animals big and small and
even to take the controls of a mini-excavator or Bobcat. Check their website

This last fair of the West Kootenay fall
festival season is a celebration of all
that is terrific about the people and the
land in the Salmo River Valley. Start the
day off right with the Salmo Childrens
Centre Barnyard Breakfast. Then head
to the Youth Centre, the vibrant hub of
this area. Check out the skate jam indoors if its rainy and outside if it is nice.
The kids will have fun participating in
old-fashioned games, farmers will be
displaying local produce and there will
be vendors of fine crafts from all over.
The Salmo Valley is home to many musicians and the live music throughout the
day will keep that festival vibe hopping.
For the 4th year running, young artists
will be painting spontaneous works of
art outside, in public. The finished panels will be on display for the duration of
Art Walk. The Salmo Snow Ghosts Ski
Team will be hosting a ski swap, there
will be face painting and of course, lots
of great fair food!

Greenway Project, a unique partnership comprised of
the Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK), the
Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, Rec Sites
and Trails BC and the Slocan Valley Heritage Trail Society
(SVHTS).
The funding aims to improve and develop trails to join
communities, schools, recreation assets, neighbourhoods,
local business centres, larger trail networks and wild
areas for the enjoyment of the Slocan Valley. The project
will include the paving of the bottom four kilometers of
the Slocan Valley Rail Trail (SVRT) from South Slocan
to Crescent Valley, which will enable the RDCK to further develop Crescent Valley Beach Park. The Ministry
of Transportation and Infrastructures construction of a
pedestrian underpass at South Slocan will provide a gateway to the Trans Canada Trail.
This partnership demonstrates what can be achieved
when local government and citizens work together for
the betterment of their communities, said Walter Popoff,
RDCK Area H director. Residents and visitors from
around the region will have easier access to our incredible
parks and trails system.
This project is a great example of groups and organizations working in partnership to create something beneficial for the community as a whole. The project is a good
fit for our Recreation Infrastructure Grants and were
very happy to see it coming together, said Kindy Gosal,
Columbia Basin Trust director, Special Initiatives.
