Mensuration Important Formulas

Square: Perimeter = 4 x s and Area = s x s

Rectangle: Perimeter = 2l + 2w and Area = l x w
Parallelogram: Perimeter = 2l + 2b and Area = base x height
Rhombus: Perimeter = 4 x a and Area = (d1 x d2)/2
Triangle: Perimeter = a + b + c and Area = (b x h)/2
Equilateral Triangle: Perimeter = 3 x a Area = (3 a2) / 4
Trapezoid: Perimeter = sum of all sides and Area = (a + b) x h / 2
Circle:
Area of a Circle (A) = r2= d2/4
Where r = radius of the circle and d = diameter of the circle.
Circumference of a Circle = 2 r = d
r= radius of circle and d= diameter of circle
Semicircle: Circumference = x r x D and Area = ( r 2)/2
Cube:
Volume of a cube (V) = s2
Lateral surface area = 4a2
Surface Area: S = 6s2
Diagonal (d) = s3
Cuboid:
Volume of cuboid: length x breadth x width
Total surface area = 2 (lb + bh + hl)

Cylinder:
Volume of a cylinder = r2h
Curved surface area of a cylinder = 2rh
Where r = radius of base, h = height of cylinder
Total surface area of a cylinder = 2 r(r + h)
Volume of hollow cylinder = rh (R2-r2)
Where, R = radius of cylinder, r= radius of hollow, h = height of cylinder
Sphere:
Surface area of sphere = 4 r2 = d2
Where r= radius of sphere, d= diameter of sphere
Volume of a sphere = 4/3 r3= 1/6 d3
Prism:
(i) Area of the lateral faces of a right prism = perimeter of the base height.
(ii) Area of the whole surface of a right prism = Area of the lateral faces + 2
area of the base.
(iii) Volume of a right prism = area of the base height.
Pyramid:
(i) Area of the lateral faces of a right pyramid = (1/2) perimeter of the base x
slant height.
(ii) Area of whole surface of a right pyramid = area of the lateral faces + area
of the base.
(iii) Volume of a right pyramid = (1/3) area of the base height.
Tetrahedron:

If a be the length of an edge of a regular tetrahedron then

(i) The area of its slant sides = (33/4) a2 sq. units
(ii) The area of its whole surface = 3a22 sq. units
(iii) The volume of the tetrahedron = (3/12) a3 cu. units
