    Ships must contains one of the following Sewage Systems: regulation

    Sewage treatment plant (approved by Administration)


    Sewage Comminuting and disinfecting system with adequate
    temporary storage for when ship is < 3 n.miles from nearest land
    Holding tanks to retain all sewage

    Discharge: regulation 11

    Enroute
    Speed > 4 knots
    Moderate discharge
    Effluent has no floating solids or discolours the water
    Communited & disinfected 3 n.miles from nearest land
    Not communited or disinfected > 12 n.miles from nearest land

    *Effluent = liquid waste or sewage discharged into a river or the sea
