Strong Earthquake jolts Nias Islands

6,2 magnitude earthquake struck off the western
coast of indonesias Sumatra Island early
Wednesday, killing one person and injuring five,
officials said.

island, according to the meteorology and
geophysics agency. It was centered about 10
kilometers beneath the Indian ocean.
One person was killed and five injured on nias

health ministry crisis center.
Indonesia, which straddles a series of active
fault lines, is prone to seismic and volcanic activity.
A giant earthquake along the same coast spawned
the large tsunami that killed more than 230.000
people in a number of countries in December
2004.

Indonesia, yang membentang serangkaian jalur

vulkanik. Sebuah gempa raksasa di sepanjang pantai
yang sama melahirkan tsunami besar yang
menewaskan lebih dari 230.000 orang di sejumlah
negara pada Desember 2004.

2. Ancient artifact to be returned to Indonesia

A thousand-year-old stone tablet known as
sanggurah stone, or more commonly the Minto
stone, is expected to be returned to its home in
Indonesia from Scotland before the end of this year.
The return will be made possible thanks to hashim
Djojohadikusumo, who is currently working with highprofile artifact theft from surakarta museum.
The historical artifact, which originated from
malang, east java, weighs around three tons and is
two meters tall. It is held in Roxburghshire, Scotland.
It has been part of a family collection belonging
to the former British Governor General Of India, Lord
Minto, after being presented to him by British
Governor Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles in the early
19th century.
The primeval stone tablet bears an ancient
inscription dated 982 AD along with the name of a
Javanese king, sri Maharaja Rakai Pangkaja Dyah
Wawa Sri Wijayalokanamottungga, who ruled over
Malang at that time.
The Minto Stone is an important historical
artifact and a crucial source of information. It
contains the history of the Mataram kingdom in

central javca and its eventual shift of power to East

java, Culture and Tourism Ministry director general
of history and archeology Hari Untoro Drajat
announced at a media gathering Thursday
Upon the artifacts return to Indonesia,
facilitated by the hashim djojohadikusumo
Foundation (YKHD), it will be placed in the national
museum in Jakarta, he said.
The government has been attempting to secure
the return of the artifact since 2004, but
government-to-government negotiations have
proven difficult because the relic is currently in the
custodianship of Minto Trustees.
So we requested that YKHD step in and
facilitate the return, because we recognized that nonstate parties would have more leeway in
negotiating.
Gubernur Jenderal mantan British Of India, Lord
Minto, setelah disajikan kepadanya oleh Gubernur
Inggris Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles pada awal abad

19.
Tablet batu purba dikenakan prasasti kuno tanggal
982 AD bersama dengan nama seorang raja Jawa, Sri
Maharaja Rakai Pangkaja Dyah Wawa Sri
media pertemuan Kamis
"Setelah kembali artefak untuk Indonesia, difasilitasi
oleh Yayasan Hashim Djojohadikusumo (YKHD), itu
akan ditempatkan di museum nasional di Jakarta,"
katanya.
Pemerintah telah berusaha untuk mengamankan
kembalinya artefak sejak tahun 2004, tetapi
