Rules of Werewolves

The Golden Rule:

Please remember that this is a game and your main objective is to have fun! Be considerate of
each other, dont get personal, and enjoy the game.
Please read The Civility Pledge before signing up for any mafia game on this site. If you have
not /pledged there, you cannot play.
Excessive personal attacks or uncivil behavior may be dealt with by modifiers or modkills.

Game Summary:
Werewolves is a social deduction game. There is an "informed minority" (the werewolves) and an
"uninformed majority" (the villagers). The werewolves know who each other are, and are trying to
be the only people left alive. The town doesn't know who anybody else is, and are trying to find
and lynch all of the werewolves. The werewolves, to make sure the town doesn't know who they
are, must pretend to be town to win. The werewolves usually can kill at night, to help them in being
the only ones left alive.

1. General Gameplay and Etiquette:

1. You may not quote private Moderator-supplied information (either real or fabricated) of any kind.
Screenshots are, obviously, also not allowed. Paraphrasing (for role claims, etc.) is acceptable.
2. Personal communication outside the thread (pm, etc.) is allowed.
3. If you have a role with a Night action your choices are due to all mods by the posted deadline. If
we do not receive your PM by the posted deadline you will forfeit your actions. In case of multiple
submissions, the last valid one before the deadline will be used. If your Night action was
mandatory, it will be decided randomly.
4. Roles with Night actions will not be able to submit an action on Night 0 (i.e. during the
confirmation stage).
5. Any player with a Night action may instead submit a No Action PM to let the Mods know that
you do not want to perform your expected action that Night phase.
6. As a general rule you should aim for one post every 24 hours, minimum, to keep the game
moving. Preferably more, and you can be asked to post more. (But if, due to circumstances, you
cant, thats acceptable of course.)

2. Voting, Deadlines, and Player Death:

1. A simple majority (rounded up) of all living members must agree on one person for a lynch to
occur prior to deadline.
2. Votes, once cast, can not be changed.
3. Once a player is lynched the game enters twilight until the mods officially declare a death; all
players including the one who was lynched may continue to post during twilight.
4. The length of deadlines is up to the mod's discretion.

5. What happens when the deadline is hit and nobody has a majority of votes is up to the mod's
discretion.
6. Please submit votes as: Vote: PlayerName.
7. You may Vote: No Lynch - a simple majority of these vote types are required to send the game to
Night phase without a lynch.
9. Once you are lynched (or otherwise killed), you are send to the hospital. Nobody really dies.
People can continue posting. However, when you are in the hospital, you loose your special abilities
and you can no longer vote.
10. If the thread is locked, you may not post. Threads can be locked for various reasons, but no
matter what the reason, you may not post. The mod may forget to lock the thread, but if they say it
is locked, it is still locked.
11. Do not edit or delete posts. We don't want some players having more information than others.
If you want to clarify posts, feel free to double post. Mods will not edit posts for you.

3. Miscellaneous/Mechanics:
1. If you have an issue/problem with the game, please PM the Mods privately. Do not post issues/
complaints in the game thread.
2. The Mods may make mistakes - please point out any mistakes gently. Mistakes will be corrected
where possible, but sometimes mistakes are made that cannot be reversed. These will stand as final
to be commiserated over after the game.
3. Prods of missing players will be issued upon request after 24 hours of no activity. A prodded
player has 48 hours to respond or risks replacement. A player who has been prodded 2 times is
subject to replacement under rule 3.10 without further notice.
3. Please do not discuss ongoing games, it can unintentionally affect the other game.
4. Rule violations will be dealt with according to their severity, which may include modkill(s) if
needed.
5. If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period please post a notice to that
effect in the thread. Treat this game as a commitment. Be considerate dont leave us hanging.
6. Players who discover they are too busy to play in a game or want to leave the game for civility
issues are not allowed to officially /out in the thread. A request to /out must only be done via a PM
to the moderator. Please do not use this as a manipulation technique. (Note players may continue
to threaten to /out or imply that they might as long as it does not include an official request).
Requests to /out are final once submitted. There will be no /outing and then /inning back into the
game so make sure that when you /out you have thought it through and really want to do it. Players
that can't be replaced will simply be mod-killed.

4. Specific rules
1. People do not die in this version. The only information that is communicated is wether or not
you were a villager or a werewolf.
2. Note: some people who are villagers are on team werewolf. (E.G. the sorcerer and the minion)
3. The tips in the text only refer to werewolves.
4. Everyone gets an active and a passive role. Some passive roles will be announced when you are
send to the hospital (when relevant), others are not.

5. Active Roles
Villagers (these are all on team village unless otherwise specified)
Magician

The magician points towards one person every night. That person
has, unknowingly to himself, two votes during the voting procedure
of the following day. The magician can thus make someone he or
she trusts have more weight during the voting procedure.

Witch

The witch may point towards 2 people every night. Those people
loose their active ability during the night and day. (They keep their
passive ability.) They do not know this happened. If there are two
witches who point at each other, the with that send me first wins
the battle. If the witch points towards the werewolf that send me the
kill, the kill does not happen. The wolf is stopped in his/her path.

Seer

The seer can point towards 2 people every night. The game master
lets you know if any of them is a werewolf. (If the witch points
towards the seer, the answer is always that the seers vision is
clouded and thus that no information can be given.)

Hunter

When you die, you can take someone with you. If you die because
the villagers kill you, you can take someone with you who voted for
you. If you die because the werewolves killed you, you can kill one
of them. (This will be decided at random.)

Guardian Angel

The guardian angel casts a protection spell on someone. The next

time that person is killed, that person does not die and the magical
power is revealed. This effect can only be cast one per person; the
same person can not be pointed towards twice by the guardian
angel. The guardian angel can choose not to use his/her power
during the night, if he/she doesnt trust anyone. This effect lasts
until the first time the person is killed. So if the guardian angel stays
alive a long time, it could be that multiple people need to be killed
twice before they actually die.

Mason

If there is one mason, there are (at least) two masons. The masons
can not tell anyone else about their power, and if they reveal this or
hint towards this, their code of honor tells them to commit suicide
instantly (and if they are protected by the guardian angel, they will
keep trying to commit suicide until they are dead. The gamemaster
decides wether or not they violated their sacred oath.) The masons
know each other and know that they can be trusted. They also
know each others passive ability, if they have any. Because the
masons share everything with each other.

Aura-seer

The aura-seer points towards three people at night and will get to
hear their passive abilities (if any). The aura-seer will not be
informed which person has which passive ability, though. If only
one person, for example, has a passive ability, the aura-seer will be
informed about that one, but again: will not be informed who has it.

Minion

Helps the werewolves and wins with the werewolves. Knows

who the werewolves are and wants them to win. But he is itself not
a werewolf and can not kill other villagers.

Sorcerer

Helps the werewolves and wins with the werewolves. Does not
know who the werewolves are and wants to hem them. Every night,
she can wake up and point one opponent. The game master will
tell the sorcerer wether that person is (1) a seer, (2) a witch, (3)
neither.

Transporter
Lookout

Every night, you may switch 2 people. What happens to the first
one will happen to the second one in stead and vice versa.
Name a person. You hear wether someone visited that person
during the night (and did something with that person) and who that
was. You do not get to hear what that person did.

Werewolves
Mystic Wolf

Sleeping Wolf

The mystic wolf is the seer for the werewolves. He can point to as
many people as he wants and says an active role. The
gamemaster will inform the mystic role if one of those people has
those active roles (either villagers or werewolves can be
researched by the mystic wolf).
He does not know the other wolves (and the other wolves dont
know him). When the wolves attack him, theyll discover he is a
wolf too and cease the attack, inviting him to join them.

Lonewolf

The lonewolf only wins if he is the last surviving wolf. The lone wolf
only wins when he wins alone.

Big Bad Wolf

When the big bad wolf dies, he doesnt go down without a fight. He
can take a villager with him in death. This does reveal his identity
as the big bad wolf.

Contagious Wolf

The contagious wolf can bring back a dead person and make him
into an additional wolf.

6. Passive Roles (For both werewolves and villagers)

These roles can refer to both villagers and werewolves.
Mayor
Loved Ones
Pacifist

The mayor has the deciding vote during the night.

They know each other, but they dont know each other roles. (This
role is open for villagers and wolves, but never 2 wolves.)
The pacifist kills himself when the person he voted for dies in the
lynching.

Fortune Teller

When the fortune teller is named (by witch, auraseer, seer,

guardian angel, magician, mystic wolf) the fortune teller is informed
either of who visited her/him or what role visited him/her. (His/her
choice.) (You are only informed during the day of this.)

7. Passive Roles (For villagers only)

Cursed

When the cursed is killed by the werewolves, the wolves become

so sick they can not attack anyone during the next night. (They
dont notice this untill the next night.)

Wolfman

You are so ugly that if the wolves attack you, they think are one of
them and stop the attack. However, the seer will see you as if you
were a wolf.

Prince

When the prince is killed by the village, he announces himself as

the prince. They recognize him and he keeps on living. (Only for
vilagers.)

Tough Guy

When you are attacked by werewolves, you keep on surviving one

additional day, until when you die of your wounds.

8. Passive Roles (For werewolves only

Wolf Cub
Handsome Wolf

When the wolf cub is killed, the wolves are so angry that they want
to kill two villagers during the day.
You are wolf, but the seer sees you as a villager.
